Truck stop at exit 76 just repaved their parking lot. Nice, fresh blacktop. Only 8 minutes away.jarhead0311 Thanks this.

Ok, thanks, Ill try there first.
-
That’s a good place. It doesn’t look like much, though. Just don’t try the Walmart at the 76 exit. They will tow or boot you.jarhead0311 Thanks this.

I really don't understand how you all put up with all of those headaches. About a month of that circus and I'd have to walk away. And not to mention all the east coast driving....I tip my hat to you all.
-
I just did that. Walk away, that is.
-
For me, the headaches are few and far between. Most days I just put in the miles and everything goes smoothly. But those make for boring posts on the Internet, so I don't bother posting 'em most of the time.
And the northeast don't bother me. I went through Jersey and NYC three times last week. Do it enough times, you learn the tricks and the timing. (Like, I generally avoid the Cross-Bronx Expressway on the return trip and go through White Plains instead.) -
Turned in your keys?Lonesome Thanks this.

I did. After my mother passed, driving just didn’t hold the same joy for me. I plugged along, trying to not think of driving as just a job, but my heart just wasn’t in it and that caused me a lot of issues (both physically & mentally) and I was forced to step back and look at what was best for me. While on my forced sabbatical, I decided that, for me, it just wasn’t worth it anymore. So yes, I turned in my “fit to return to normal duties with no restrictions” letter from my doctor and my resignation at the same time just yesterday. I will still be in the industry, just not OTR and not at Abilene.hotrod1653, 48Packard, Finfn1372 and 7 others Thank this.

@RebelChick wising you the best in your future endeavors. I think for a lot of us old hands this industry has started to lose its appeal, unfortunately I can’t make the kind of money I’m making doing anything else, so I just grit my teeth each day and put up with the continued decline of and industry I once loved. Don’t be a stranger.
hotrod1653, 48Packard, Lonesome and 6 others Thank this.
