Truck stop at exit 76 just repaved their parking lot. Nice, fresh blacktop. Only 8 minutes away.

That’s a good place. It doesn’t look like much, though. Just don’t try the Walmart at the 76 exit. They will tow or boot you.

    jarhead0311 Thanks this.

I really don't understand how you all put up with all of those headaches. About a month of that circus and I'd have to walk away. And not to mention all the east coast driving....I tip my hat to you all.

For me, the headaches are few and far between. Most days I just put in the miles and everything goes smoothly. But those make for boring posts on the Internet, so I don't bother posting 'em most of the time.

And the northeast don't bother me. I went through Jersey and NYC three times last week. Do it enough times, you learn the tricks and the timing. (Like, I generally avoid the Cross-Bronx Expressway on the return trip and go through White Plains instead.)

    Lonesome and IH9300SBA Thank this.

I did. After my mother passed, driving just didn’t hold the same joy for me. I plugged along, trying to not think of driving as just a job, but my heart just wasn’t in it and that caused me a lot of issues (both physically & mentally) and I was forced to step back and look at what was best for me. While on my forced sabbatical, I decided that, for me, it just wasn’t worth it anymore. So yes, I turned in my “fit to return to normal duties with no restrictions” letter from my doctor and my resignation at the same time just yesterday. I will still be in the industry, just not OTR and not at Abilene.

@RebelChick wising you the best in your future endeavors. I think for a lot of us old hands this industry has started to lose its appeal, unfortunately I can’t make the kind of money I’m making doing anything else, so I just grit my teeth each day and put up with the continued decline of and industry I once loved. Don’t be a stranger.
