Got pulled over today on the way to Columbus. Ohio State Police.
I was fair certain I knew why he'd pulled me over. The trailer I'm hauling has a license plate that looks like this:

Fortunately for me, I noticed it during my pre-trip yesterday and took that picture, which I then sent in to Safety.
Good thing, too, because he was prepared to write me a ticket for it, and the only thing that saved me was the fact that I could show him that I'd already notified safety about it. So I got a level 3 inspection instead, which I passed.

First I am going to commend you for the excellent pre-trip you did. Not many drivers would have even noticed it. But let me say this, if that all the cop had to do, they need to eliminate his job. I can go along with him stopping you and pointing this out, but to give you a ticket, bull-####!Lonesome, IH9300SBA, MidWest_MacDaddy and 4 others Thank this.

That would have been a CS ticket of the first magnitude. These modern plates don’t hold up well at all, and if that’s all he initially pulled you for, I’m with Grouch…Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy, jarhead0311 and 2 others Thank this.

He said he pulled me over because Abilene's CSA scores were low, but I saw him take a picture of the license plate on his way up to talk to me.

Rte 35 in Ohio. Been pulled over 4 times in the 9 years I’ve been here and hear the same excuse, pulled over because Abilene’s scores are low. You would think after 9 years, we’d have better scores.Flatbedder 1966, Lonesome and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

I bet they say that to ALL the truckers.

Exactly. The last trooper that pulled me over was a really cool dude. He saw my NY Yankees ball cap and spent the next 30 minutes telling me how much he loves the Yankees and that every year he and his wife spend a long weekend in the city and go to a home stand series. I told him the first game my Pops took me and my brother to was in ‘68 when Mickey Mantle gave his retirement speech.Lonesome, 4mer trucker, Rugerfan and 4 others Thank this.

Sitting in Bunker Hill KS doing my 10. This load drops Saturday whenever I get it there in Charlotte which will be 1600. I got a phone call from my DM this morning wanting to know, if they deadhead me back to the yard from Charlotte, 292 miles, would I be willing to go to Toronto for late Monday morning. Of course I said yes. I was asked if I had my passport, yes, then asked if I had my vaccination card, yes, as Canada is now asking to see it via an app I had to download and put all my info in, then get a confirmation with a scan code to be scanned at customs in order to go in. When all this was presented to me, I immediately started questioning the importance of all this to cross the border, I told my DM, that this wasn’t important enough to me to have to go through all this, he told me it’s our customer that we need to take care of. I told him to have the customer send a Canadian truck down to pick the product up. After some back and forth and me telling him to get another driver to do it, I find out that what few drivers that have passports, don’t have vaccination cards, so then I decided to ask for more money to go, not much, but a little token of appreciation. It was granted, so guess who’s going to Toronto?

Let’s see, both countries already have supply chain issues/delays, let’s eliminate half the cross border drivers too. That should help.

My thought exactly.Lonesome, JoeyJunk, MidWest_MacDaddy and 3 others Thank this.
