I salute the ones who can make that happen, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be in the cards for me.

Me neither 52 years old 1 daughter just started college and another starts in a couple years. I figure I will be dead and burried before I can retire. And then I will have to work from the grave for a few years.

Trust me, if it wasn’t for my wife, it wouldn’t happen until my next life.

I was retired for 7 years. Now I've been back driving since September running chemical tanks again, and while things have changed, like the nanny box, I still love doing it.

I retired on 11/21/1997 from the Army, then again on 5/05/05 from the city of Anaheim CA and now sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas I will quit driving. Will start drawing my measly Social Security in May 2023 when I turn 70.

Bumper, have you run the figures? Might be advantagous to draw SS now, invest the income. I did. I Started drawing SS at 66, did the math, I would come out ahead at 78 years old. I figured a 5% return on investment, but I might not live another 12... 11 now years. Plus I can still get around physically now, 11 - 12 years.....who knows.
Enjoy it when you get there.

    Grouch and JohnBoy Thank this.

I have tried it several times and @ 86 years old, I am thinking about going back to work. Just went and had a DOT physical for a mail carrier( it ain't 10Roads) came away with a 2 year card. Have no intention of working full time, part-time only, I need something to do to get out of this house.

Just like my dad said when he un-retired: "There's only so many times I can straighten up the garage."

I’m only going to get $350.00 a month.
