    Sent me down to Compton to drop and hook from Phoenix and on my way to the dealer to get the rest of my stuff I get rear ended near Ontario by a totally blacked out Cadillac Escalade while traffic was stop and go. It slammed into my DOT bumper hard smashing it's front in. I pull over to the shoulder and the idiot sped off without stopping and disappeared somewhere....call 911 to get a police report done and the woman said they can't do anything and wouldn't send a CHP out and told me had to call my company and have them contact their insurance company.....great, Im sure safety going to love that one. Also the idiot that dropped this trailer to be loaded obviously didn't inspect anything cuz the right turn signal was completely missing with wires hanging.....

    California does not respond to non injury accidents anymore. They will do just what they told you to do or you can go to the local PD station and leave the facts there as an incident report.

    funny that you posted this, just yesterday, my son going north on 1-81 in Pa. a U.S. Food truck in the right lane and my son was passing him, he did not look just pulled right over on my son. He did not stop, my son got his truck # and license #. My son stopped at the Flying J in Carlisle, called the state police and got a similar response as you described. OH, only the right mirror got damaged, my son was lucky that he had enough room on the shoulder to avoid a bigger crash.

    Thank God your son was not injured. And I hope he called their safety dept and they fix his car. I sometimes forget that I have been retired for 17 years and things might have changed since then...

    How well do I remember when I first got started way back in 1963 driving for Carolina Trailways. We had to fill out accident reports even if a person fell getting on or off the bus or if a bag in the overhead compartment fell out and hit someone. And during your "pre trip" you better not miss a scratch or a dent and report it before you moved the bus. But "things have changed". My son drives for a major carrier and the right mirror plastic shield got broke, when he called in about it, they didn't even make him fill out an accident report, just said, we will fix it when you get in. If this had happened years ago, U.S Food would have been contacted and made to pay for the damage, now they take the attitude, "it ain't worth the hassle".

    Well, it was less than $950 of damage so they don’t consider it to even be an accident. {joke}

    Sitting here in North Bend Washington finishing up a reset. Just got my reload assignment for tomorrow after I’m done at the convention center in Seattle. 280 mile deadhead to Junction City Oregon to load going to Lynchburg Va for Wednesday morning. The whole trip going back is 3175 miles. The one out here was 3240. I’m quite sure now that the weather out here is changing for the good, this should be the last time I’m sent out here until November. Gotta give the fair weather drivers their chance to run out to the PNW. I get to see it dressed in white, they get to see it dressed in green.
