Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I can't believe that piece of garbage place disguised as a truck stop still exists. Especially with the value of land in Orlando you would think it would have been sold, torn down and another un-needed shopping center built there. Just like the old 76 that was just north of it years ago.

 

It was a place to park, shower and poop. That’s all it was good for.

 

The order of importance?

 

For the most part. But sometimes the pooping takes precedence.

 

I have stopped there many years ago when it was first opened and it was a welcome place to stop. After the owner started clearing out the back part of his land without permits and checking the requirements for replacing trees with the state they stopped him from expanding and paving the rest of the lot thus it has become a dirt and mud pit and stinks from drivers using it instead of the rest rooms. It now is sub-divided into separate operators, the shop, restaurant and fuel islands and the upstairs used to be brokers but long gone. I know it's the only game in Orlando but either fix it up or just go away.

 

Now that's more information than I needed......

 

We have a new safety lady named Paige,really nice women.

Sitting at the yard,waiting on a load to get here,probably be morning for I leave,deliver just south of Birmingham for Wednesday morning.

 

I am also sitting on the yard, taking a 34 since my 70 is on fumes. Waiting for Maaco down the road to call me so I can go pick up my car, which I had repainted last week.

 

I usually try to set myself up to have time after dealing with my consignee to get out of Orlando and shut down at the Turkey Creek or Okahumpka service plazas. I'm willing to take a baby wipe shower inside my truck if it means I can skip a disgusting visit to one of those tired old truck stops.

 

Finally got fixed today but looks like I gotta wait til morning cuz nothing available for me to hook at 0200 in the morning when Id like to start rolling to beat traffic. Should get 3 days breakdown pay.
