Sorry, but when I was hired NYC was NOT forced. That change came about later. I run anywhere else I am sent, but I don't do NYC. If that makes me less of a driver, in your opinion, oh well.

It only makes me wonder why they hire drivers that refuse to run areas they don't want to drive into, then drivers like me, who will run anywhere, anytime get phone calls all ours of the day and night to repower loads because they can't or won't do the job. Let me get this straight, it's ok for me to run to NYC, rescue a load sitting in Forest City Ar because Charlie truck driver doesn't go there. How about me? Holiday coming up, vacation coming up and I wind up rescuing a load from a "driver" that doesn't go to NYC. Sorry, I can't accept that, especially when the driver in question will be home while I'm delivering his load.

I had a driver like that and then after a while he would wonder why the others that covered his loads seemed to get treated better by dispatch and eventually by everyone compared to how he was treated. He got the hint and moved on , last I heard he was actually driving a cab :)

I think he meant that you have a lot more headaches. I don't worry about what other drivers get and I do just fine in the miles department.

I'm sitting at BH Brooklyn now for an early Saturday unload. Picked up a "team" load in St.Louis and arrived early this afternoon. I like coming here and there is a great little grocery store half block down the street with awesome hot meals at a great price. My only issue is the motorcycle club across from the bull pen, those guys like to rev their engines!
    JB have a great cruise!!!

I was leased to Goodway out of York Pa and leased on at their Dallas TX terminal. My contract stipulated, nothing N or E of York but I would take chocolate and wine load to Port Elizabeth as it was D & H. Sneak in around 2 AM, D & H and be back to York around 10 AM after sleeping at Midway.

I would be ashamed to call myself a truck driver if i didnt go do anything I was asked
    but that's just me
it seems to work for me when my Dad was in the hospital in NH they weren't sure he was coming home
dispatch found a load to get me there even though we dont go to New England
another driver took a week off to fly to Florida see his parents because he is always combative about loads

    imagine that

I'm going to bed. I thought about this NYC debate and have come up with this final thought. I'm grateful for being born and raised in the big city, learned how to back up one of these trucks at 15 years old and now, all these years later I can go into any city in any part of this country and do my job without any issues, that includes NYC or Picayune Ms.
