Was a delay waiting on my last drop. It was ready about 5:30. I ran down to the plant to grab the trailer, brought it to the yard and bumped the loading dock to get my load on. I enjoy helping out on the dock. It allows me to make sure the different freight is secured with straps and I’m able to see exactly what goes where and who gets what. Was finished about 7pm. I’ll be leaving after my reset is up at 0530.

I was told by the man in charge of our LTL dock that I missed out on a 4 drop load to Alaska 2 weeks ago. They sent it to Seattle and transshipped it north to Alaska on another carrier. He was going to call me to see when I was going to come back. Because of the extra week I took off because of my mom, they sent it a different way. Just my luck.

It sure is. We have a load that leaves Boars Head in Groveport every Wednesday that goes to Anchorage that we bring to Fife Washington for transshipping. I’ve been asking to do it for years.

My load to Lockbourne was non-existent as somebody messed up something in the system. Next load I chose was showing on the yard but really wasn’t. Finally load to Lowe’s in Findlay on the yard, hook to it and pti the trailer got a flat tire and 1/4 of the lights not working….

Merry go round with loads today. Somebody from higher up than the Wytheville planner chewed the planner out for offering me the Findlay load when there were other hotter loads. Planner offered me the hotter loads but I chose the Findlay load so it was given to me. Well, had to turn around and bring the Findlay load back and forced to take this Upper Marlboro glass load instead, Ive done it before, easy peasy except for DC morning rush traffic. Will have 0 hours left when I get back to Galax with the empty racks. Hate taking a 34 beginning of the week but oh well…..

Finally made it back to Galax to drop the empty glass racks and now a 34. Just watched one of our drivers run over a yellow plastic reserved sign at the pilot, heard a loud pop and yup, dude ran it right over…..

Walking around the yard and noticing all the tore up and damaged equipment, this doesn’t surprise me at all.

Man, I ain't done that run in years.

First time I did it was my first trip to downtown Chicago when I was still super wet behind the ears. Had to back into a warehouse off the street. Nose of the truck was halfway out into the lane while they were unloading me. Only had 20 minutes left on my clock when they finished unloading me and putting the empty racks back on the trailer, so I spent the night on an on-ramp in suburban Chicago.

    Good times.
