Sorry to say this but when a load assignment comes through that you don't want to do or can not make you are still obligated to take it. The main issue is to get that load started. On the load acceptance click N and the reason you can't make it. What it does is give the load planners time to figure out a repower. By whining and not getting that load rolling they have to scramble to find a driver in that area. That there is the beginning of mental demerits, load nazi. Ever heard drivers say everyone else is getting the good loads? Lesson learned, office people do play favorites. Shoot, me....I take all the crap loads and then I can pick a good load later on. -
Hello all,
I'm Kellan, I have had the pleasure of having John as my trainer for the last 5 weeks. I can't say enough good things about him outside of what a true gentleman he is and what wonderful trainer he has been.
I haven't been in the industry long and getting the chance to learn from a 34 year veteran I feel has been an invaluable experience.
We covered at last count 32,000 miles cris crossing the country from Virginia to California, Utah to the city streets of John's hometown of Brooklyn and all other states in between. He took me through all types of weather and even found ways to get 700 plus mile days per person even with heavy delays at times.
Abilene has been a wonderful company to work for thus far. John had some very unfortunate medical issues come up back home with his wife while we where training. Abilene took such good care of us and being sure he could be at his wife's side. BTW thanks for the extra dinners! His wife can cook! I knew then how much they value their drivers. Between great miles and great people at Abilene I hope others reading this post will put them at the top of their list if they are considering making a move.
It's been a pleasure getting to meet some of you fellow Abilene drivers! Shout out to BMAN!JohnBoy, poppapump1332, gntorres61 and 9 others Thank this. -

Today is the day, Kellan tests out, I head home. I've had the pleasure of giving to Kellan everything he will need to get a foot hold in trucking. I have absolutely no concerns in his ability to succeed. I want to sit high on my pedastil and say it was because of me, but it wasn't. It was because of his listening, asking questions, following directions without hesitation and allowing me to give him pointers that will carry him through this great profession.
I knew early on there was something special here. He proved without a doubt he could do this. It felt as though I was just along for the ride. We all have egos as was pointed out a few posts back, I'm no different, I lucked out with Kellan, he succeeds and I look good. After the last 8 trainees, I'm confident this one will shine.runningman0661, Cranky Yankee and joseph1135 Thank this. -
