Oh well, we have about 1400 more trailers they can practice with.

Got the Huntsville BH run today for tomorrow. Thankfully this week I actually got it and wasn’t given to another carrier again, lol! Parked in the dock for the night and bouncing to WM after empty in the morning.

After some more investigation, rumor has it that the driver said he was backed into. Now look, I’m not a mechanical engineer and quite frankly, just looking at this work of art, it looks more like a wrap the trailer around a pole more than flat metal hitting flat metal.

It's a sharp crease for sure, but what I find interesting is the lower rail under the conspicuity tape looks untouched. I don't see how another trailer could do that, or a pole either honestly.

Searching for an empty box yesterday at our Charlotte op center, there were three trailers, all nearly new, with gaping holes in the upper corners. Gets worse each year.

Oh, and one driver got stopped at the exit gate because his had a three-foot gouge across the top. Claimed he did a pre-trip.

    jarhead0311 and dwells40 Thank this.

    The driver? Would explain things.

My first or second month on the road, I was on the Garden State Parkway and took a right-turn too tight on a busy New Jersey street. Wound up with the lamppost right on the side of my trailer, and absolutely would've done that to the trailer (or knocked over the lamppost) if I had continued the turn. But I was paying close attention to the side view mirrors and saw it happen. Stopped, straightened up, waited for my fellow citizens to notice my plight and accommodate me (which they did) and drove straight forward onto a sidewalk to clear the pole.

    Valuable lesson, that.

At the mothership. Truck in for new batteries, a coolant leak, a 3 axle alignment and a new windshield to replace the one that was replaced 2 months ago.

Keeping on topic, these mishaps that happen is a direct result of what’s readily available in the truck driver pool. I truly believe these companies are just as much at fault with their “6 week” turn into a professional truck driver courses. I just did a round trip from Sumner Washington back to Richmond, the weather was what one would find in January running across the upper part of the country. I know what I’m doing after 40+ years. How can these companies train a driver for 6 weeks, cut them loose in November and boom, send them up to the frozen tundra of SD ND and MT, in all types of weather and road conditions? I’ve always said, you get what you pay for, I need to rethink that statement. Theses companies are just as much at fault. I could go on and on, but I’ll just leave it alone.

The dude with one of our newer trailers that turned it into a horseshoe? How in the hell do you make a turn and forget there’s 53 feet of trailer in your mirror following your every move?

probably just did the pre trip on the E logs … pretty much the standard anymore. I see so many people not ever get out and do any kind of inspection on their equipment. Pathetic.
