Left Groveport yesterday morning at 0500. Got a nice 13 hour break in and got myself off the night owl shift. Now on my way to Fife Washington for Monday.

Am I the only one that gets a warm and fuzzy feeling when it’s drizzling and the outside temperature is reading 29 degrees? Sitting on an off ramp on US 20 by Ft Dodge Iowa having a cup of coffee waiting on daylight. At least if I run off the road I can see where I’m going.

Dropped Jacksonville yesterday afternoon and they told me to grab the empty out of dock 6. Darn trailer had some unwanted crap thrown into the back of it, stuff was probably laying around warehouse and they decided to put it in one of our trailers. Two load locks and a long 2x4 plus some long ropes somebody decided to leave instead of cutting them off and throwing them away. Those long heavy rectangular load locks too. I promptly threw everything in the dumpster at the pilot across the state line. Got bounced up to Savannah for a load of sugar going to Kroger in Memphis for Sunday unload at 1700. Get to shipper and call in like the sign says and ask for a reference number I was not given. Call DM about it and wait ten min then the planner calls me and says there was a mix up with the broker yesterday and a local was loading it so I end up swapping trailers after he got it loaded. Doing a 34 at Loves off exit 143 on I16 then off to Memphis Sunday. Supposed to get a Reno next that supposed to Deliver next Friday. Will see if that falls through. Hopefully weather behaves itself out there next week.

I agree. I’ve been known to stop at the Love’s in Bridgeport, MI and wait for daylight some mornings too.

Currently in the middle of a Marlon Special.

When I asked 'em for a load, they said they had one due in New Hampshire on Monday morning. I noted that was a load that would keep me idle for 48 hours babysitting a trailer, which was fine as long as they were willing to pay me two days of layover.

Apparently they were unwilling, since they countered with the Marlon Special I'm on now. Which still has a day of layover on it, but apparently they like that better than two days of layover.

Delivered two convention loads going to the same convention in Atlanta. Got a third load going to a different convention in New Orleans. Technically due Tuesday, but it's a warehouse delivery and it looks like one of those places that doesn't really have strict appointment times. So I'm gonna roll in tomorrow morning and see what they say.

Is it safe to assume that Marlon is your dispatcher?

Marlon is in charge of our LTL freight. He puts the loads together and hands them out to certain drivers. He’s been at the company the last 15 years. Most of my outbound Richmond loads are his.
