Does the time you spent waiting for assistance come out of your "on duty" hours, or can you count this as down time?

It all depends. If he had not logged in, he can still stay off duty and it is not going against his 14. Had he logged in , he can still go off duty, but the 14 hr clock is still clicking. . I try to make it a practice to make sure there is nothing wrong before I ever log in and when I do my pre trip on the ELD, I am confident that in a few minutes, I am rolling.

Yeah, I logged off duty for that blown tire. Tires were all new when I inspected the trailer before hooking it other day. I usually start my days between 0200-0300 so gotta use flashlight to check stuff and didn’t see anything visible that would cause the tire to blow. Think it was just a bad tire.

Need a new air compressor….breakdown says they can have the parts overnighted, we shall see. Amazing how that just quits overnight cuz had no problems til this morning….now I really see why they get rid of trucks before/around 400k miles…..485k and counting and keeps breaking…..think something is up with one or more of the injectors too….

I’m waiting to be replaced by an AI driver before retiring.
