Parts are supposed to be here tomorrow before noon supposedly, new air compressor and parts that go with it and the parts to fix the coolant leak spraying everywhere that was supposed to be fixed by the RVA shop few weeks ago. Two days breakdown pay I oughta get from this cuz guaranteed I won’t get moving til Friday. Breakdown pay will salvage this week at least.

Welp, back in my own truck for the first time since April 25th. Back at HQ for the first time since sometime before that. My truck was fully repaired and ready to go last Monday, but couldn't get HQ to swing me by there.

The shop which repaired my truck was in Columbia, SC. I stopped yesterday in Spartanburg and started making phone calls. First phone call was made at 7:45am. Let 'em know that I was very much ready to get out of my loaner and back into my own truck. Explained that I was in Spartanburg, about an hour and a half from my truck. Explained that I really didn't want to leave Spartanburg for any reason except to retrieve my truck. Explained that they would need to set someone up to come and get me and take me down there.

I was under load, but the load wasn't due until Friday. A very light LTL load going to that convention display place up in Havre de Grace. And there's an AAA Cooper Transport yard there in Spartanburg where I picked up the loaner in the first place. Great place for me to leave the trailer so I could hook it back up later with my own truck.

Time passed. Nothing happened, and lots of it.

Long about 12:30pm, I made more phone calls. Explained again that I would very much like to be back in my own truck, and I was willing to sit in Spartanburg with a loaded trailer for however long it took. If the load was late, that was fine with me.

Someone finally called around 3:00pm. Seven hours after I'd made my first phone call.

"Can you call the shop and see if they'll let you drop your loaner there and pick up your truck?"

Yeah, I can do that, but that sure does seem like something y'all could've suggested seven hours previously instead of letting me sit around twiddling my thumbs all day.

So I called the shop, and they were fine with it, but only for two days. Dropped the trailer at the ACT yard, drove down there, transferred all my stuff out of the loaner and back into my truck, left the keys with the shop, and headed back to Spartanburg.

And now I'm back on the yard, and one of the local guys will be delivering the load to Havre de Grace in the small hours of the morning. Apparently they were expecting it today.

Throughout the years I have noticed that not only drivers jump from company to company, I think they are called "job hoppers", but the same goes for "executives" . They run one company into the ground and move on to the next and the next and the next. I have witnessed this time after time. Then we wonder why trucking has "gone to the dogs". The answer is simple, you have the same management, the same mindset, the same pattern of management. This brings to mind the old saying, when someone asks how are you doing and the response, "same ####, different day"

Got into the yard about 1700 yesterday. Now in the middle of a reset. My day has consisted of sleeping in until 0800, getting the house cleaned up, did my paperwork, showered, Waffle House, then got the truck washed. Later I’ll head over to Kroger to pick some things up to get me through these next 2 weeks and be lazy the rest of the day.

So this weeks pay has our previous months mileage/safety bonus on it. Except mine. Had to spend time with payroll to get it straightened out. 3 hours later, it was. Not that I can’t feed my family or my Chocolate Lab without it, but no, I don’t want it added to next weeks paycheck, I want it this week like everyone else. We are talking about $885.00 worth of bonus that you made a mistake on. I think in the 10 years here, this was maybe the 3rd time I’ve had a mistake on my pay.

And finally, I hit a milestone this week. It’s been 2 years I’ve been with my DM. I will say this. He’s great to work with, knows exactly how to be a DM and I’m hoping he stays here until it’s time to ride off into the sunset.

Been saying for years, one day they’ll be 3 or 4 trucking company to choose from and go to work for. I’m just glad my days are numbered. Oh, and it’s Knight, not Swift. The actual corporate name is Knight/Swift Holdings Corp. Knight merged with Swift and took over all their debt which they have since eliminated. Meanwhile, as long as my check is direct deposited every Friday morning at 2am, it can be called Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Follies. The funny part of this, they announced this purchase 5 years to the day they bought Abilene.

Parts came in this morning and Im still not fixed. Brought all bunch of other trucks in ahead of me, Ive been here since yesterday morning. I suspect they are mad cuz they aren’t getting paid what they want being knight had there own parts shipped here and what not and Im being punished for it….I know that sounds paranoid but I should have been in and fixed already ahead of the other ppl they had show up after my parts arrived early this morning. Kind of upset….
