Left the house yesterday morning at 0900. Got to my p/u in Tampa at 1300. Was loaded and out at 1500. I’m 3 hours from my delivery in Dublin Ga. They go by strict appointments and mine is 1500. So right now just going over this new short haul crap they’ve started, my only take is that it sucks. 32 hours, live load, live unload, and a total of 529 miles. We have to many 350-400 mile a day drivers that would die for this load, not me. Just told my DM this is a perfect way to have me retire a little earlier than planned. After 10 days off, I don’t need to be babysitting one of the cheapest loads on the planet, West Rock recycled cardboard that has cheap written all over it.

TN was pulling trucks over for random inspections today, got and passed a level 3. Looked like they were training new officers.

Hello all, hope everyone is getting through the day safe. This thread is impressive. 3k posts wow. Is there an updated pay average yearly or Weekly with benefits for family and single please? Keep ‘em rollin and stay safe.

Haven’t had an inspection in 2 years, I’m due.

I haven’t a clue what the pay is for a driver that’s just hired. Pretty sure it isn’t what it should be. I just know what I make based on all my bonuses, vacation and other assorted income. But for the miles I ran last year, having 3 full moths off and only working 9 months, my CPM came in at 64.5. And before anyone tells me I can do better someplace else, I really don’t care. I have tunnel vision for retirement. The short time I have left, I’m not worried about making more, starting over at a new company, proving myself or maybe getting stuck with a DM that can or can’t do his job. The only reason I'm here is for insurance. July of ‘24 my wife turns 65, then we both go on the governments dime. There are a boatload of other intangible’s that keep me here, all have to do with the 10+ years I’ve put in here.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome, Bumper and 2 others Thank this.

@JohnBoy my dad made it 1 year in to retirement and started back yesterday as an operations manager for one of the largest electrical companies in the southeast, funny how that works, basically said he just got bored. He retired well also, full military retirement as well as civilian, and multiple great investments over the past 20 years that have set him and my mom up well. We’ll see how long until he’s ready to retire again

I’ve had my Real Estate license for 23 years. When I’m home I work with my wife as a team. That’s what I’ll be doing when I hang up my truck driving flip flops. Just like your Dad, I’ve been very diligent about my retirement, investments and getting myself in position to retire.ncmickey, MidWest_MacDaddy and dwells40 Thank this.
