You nailed it and shouldn’t feel bad for doing so, because you’re absolutely right. The company I work for is great, I almost literally have no complaints. EXCEPT I’m the trainer for new hires. And I’m training people to stand a 40’ frameless up with no experience, without flopping it over. That’s fine, I was new too, I get it. I get paid on %, it takes time to train someone to end dump, there’s a lot of variables. So I’m losing loads every day helping a new guy. Well I guess they thought I should be doing it out of the goodness of my heart. Well I got good news and bad news and they’re both the same, I ain’t. Once I expressed my concerns they quickly “oh well we can establish training pay for you that’s no problem”. And they did, so that’s fine. The point of all this is, the squeaky wheel truly gets the grease and good on you for sticking up for yourself and what you have rightfully coming to you. Otherwise they’d just see how long they could get away with it.

In today's business and society, it seems like that is what it takes to get your point across. Once you engage a "superior management person" you can expect to be facing some sort of intimidation and this is because that person wants you to be put on the defensive instead of allowing you to be the man with the ball on the offense.dwells40, MidWest_MacDaddy, motocross25 and 1 other person Thank this.

Yep. And anything they don’t give the driver, they probably get in a bonus at the end of the year for saving the terminal X amount of money.dwells40, MidWest_MacDaddy, Grouch and 1 other person Thank this.

Everything in business is control by the "bottom line". The years i drove a CEO around in his private bus, I learned exactly what the top management thinks about drivers. This CEO would come "unglued" about drivers putting in for delay time, when he thought nothing about throwing away thousands for his own entertainment.jarhead0311, ExtremeUnction, motocross25 and 2 others Thank this.

That is my sneaky suspicion, he is trying to save money by not paying layover and detention when it should be paid, even when he says to put it in himself to make himself look good. I never had any problems until he was brought over from Knight and hired on. I feel like Im back in the military scolding a dumb dumb lieutenant for stupid stuff he shouldn’t be doing.

They tried putting that Hill Phoenix back on me after my truck was out the shop but no empty vans to live load so they put me on a preloaded stihl load out of Va Beach to Malvern, Ar. due Friday afternoon I could bobtail to. Of course traffic was horrendous going in and coming out so my plans of making it to the Wytheville yard for my break were changed and came back to Richmond for the night. More than enough time to get there anyway.

They called me up this morning after I delivered my Pepsi load down the street and asked if I wanted a Hill-Phoenix load to Monticello, NY.
I said "Sure". Had almost 24 hours of dead time on it, but I had stuff to do anyways so I ain't asking for layover. Took advantage of the time off.
Will be leaving out in the morning.
Haven't hauled Hill-Phoenix in a while. I see all the Hill-Phoenix loaded trailers on the lot every time I look for an empty, but I ain't been hauling 'em. Wonder where they've been going and who's been taking 'em.Lonesome, Bumper and jarhead0311 Thank this. -
I heard of another guy who was an owner operator that got fired because he went home to attend to his son's funeral and issues dealing with his death.
