As the Dead sang in their song "Truckin " what a long strange road it's been, especially since Sunday night. I figured if I was able to leave before midnight on Sunday night then I could run all night to Forrest City Arkansas, take my break there then leave and do the 2 drops as scheduled, one at 7pm in Little Rock and then head up to Springdale, but instead I got finished at 4 am Monday so I finished my sleeper at 7am then the fun started.
I fought Atlanta traffic and made it to Forrest city at 3pm in time for my drop and hook. I made it to Little Rock and got 14 pallets of freight off in an hour but ran out of time there. I took my 10 right there, got up at 5 am then drove the 210 miles to Springdale. On my way up my reload came across my Qualcomm, I had to deadhead back to Forrest City and do another drop and hook for a 2 stopper, Brooklyn NY at 2am Thursday morning and the final at 6 am in Edison NJ. Gotta get ready to leave.....
To be continued..........Lonesome Thanks this. -

Hey JohnBoy, what's yer truck governed at?

Ok, let's continue......
I knew right away that I wouldn't be able to do this load as it was scheduled. I did my drop and got to Forrest City at 3pm and sent a message into dispatch that the closest to 2am I could get to Brooklyn on Thursday would be noon. After getting my trailer I had one hour left on my day. With everything I had Wednesday, I drove 502 miles, made 2 drops, waited 2 hours for my new load, then as I figured, I ran out of time. The first response from dispatch was to take my 10 right there. I wrote back that that wasn't going to help the issue. What was going to help the issue was to repower the load when I ended my day Wednesday.
I was up and rolling at 5am Wednesday. I sent a message into dispatch and was finally told they were working on a repower. I was told to go to the TA in Roanoke and someone will switch with me. I figured whoever was going to do the switch had to be rolling out of Roanoke by 7pm to get to Brooklyn by 2am. I hadn't heard squat from dispatch about the switch, I got to Roanoke at 4pm, 656 miles for the day with only stopping once for a half hour. I called in and was told another driver was on his way. He got there, without a trailer for me and took my load and left at exactly 6pm. That gave him enough time to do the load as scheduled, me? I was exhausted and at that moment didn't give a rats backside about not having a trailer, I figured I would deal with it in the morning. I went right to bed. About 9pm my Qualcomm came to life. I got up and read the messages. I had to bobtail the 75 miles down to Gatorade in wytheville and pick up a loaded trailer at 4am with a load going to Mesquite Tx. My sleeper time was up at 2am, I was rolling at 2:15 in the pouring rain the whole way, got there at 3:45am was hooked and out the gate at 4:30. I now had the pleasure of starting my day for 2 days at 2am.
I went to the Wilco down from the shipper to scale out and of course I was over gross. Back to the shipper I go. They take off 1 pallet and I'm done in 15 minutes. I go back and reweigh and it's all good after adjusting my axles. I make it to west Memphis at 3pm yesterday, shower eat and go to bed. I was up and rolling this morning at 1am, got to my delivery an hour early and was empty by 9am. I got my reload info, reloading in Dallas going right back to wythevill. I told dispatch my hours are shot and I only have 4 left for today and will be working off my recap. This is scheduled to deliver on Tuesday, I plan on being there Sunday night to drop it at our yard. In the meantime, I had to drop the reefer trailer I had in Irving and get a dry van for my next load. The only one here has a hole in it so now I'm waiting for someone to come out and fix it.Last edited: Aug 2, 2013

That's a wee bit better than the 65 CRST trucks are limited to.
JohnBoy Thanks this. -
I'm going to have to stop reading this tread. All that running is making me tired, and I'm just reading.
JohnBoy Thanks this.
