Back in Richmond. Left out 5am Tuesday after doing a reset in the motel to get the cold under wraps. I had snow covered roads for 577 of the 627 mile trip, the last 140 miles of some of the heaviest lake effect snow I've seen in a long while. I made it to the truck stop after clearing customs and went to bed after a shower.
I woke up yesterday to -11, drove to my drop and was done at noon, then had to go to Angola NY and reload. Got done at 5pm then went to the Pilot in Erie in another round of lake effect snow. I decided, after freezing my arse off, dealing with an enormous amount of snow, that it was bed time. I got up at 5am and left at 6am, in another round of God awful snow. I stopped for fuel at the 99 on 79, then drove the 403 miles nonstop to the yard. I'll be dispatched in the morning, right now it's time to thaw out.

"I woke up yesterday to -11,"

Thought I would be dispatched in the morning. At 4:30 after asking Marlon who is in charge of putting our LTL loads together, if he had anything that I would be able to run with, he said to hold on. An hour later he called me over to the window and showed me the load he assigned me to. A 4 dropper, Pine Bluffs Wyoming for Monday, Dubois Wyoming for Monday, South Jordan Utah for Tuesday and Prineville Oregon for Wednesday. 3095 paid miles, 3 extra stop offs. Then it will be back to Richmond then home for a much needed break.
I had a few hours left to drive today but decided to leave out in the morning. I need to fuel, shower, get the truck washed and have my new IFTA stickers put on by the shop. Then it's 1680 miles to my first drop. Nitey nite.Lonesome Thanks this. -

JohnBoy,
I currently drive for that big "Orange" company. I have seen Abilene trucks around, and am following your thread with interest.
I live in central PA. I am not sure if there are any terminals, etc., in my area. I looked at the website, but it did not give much info under the employment tab. I have one year of experience now (driving a dedicated/OTR) route, and am looking at smaller companies. Can you provide any advice as to locations and types of driving that Abilene does? I have driven NE regional at my first company, and other than going into NYC, Boston, etc., did not mind it at all.
Advice?
Thanks,
Doc
