Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Down to 2-and-a-half hours on my 70. Something that hasn't happened in a good long while.

 

Arrived at 8:30 for my 9:00 appointment. Whereupon I discovered that my appointment time is 21:00.

Double-checked my load assignment, and I did read it correctly. It does indeed say 9:00am delivery time.

So I'm now parked at the brand new Onvo half a mile down the road, which conveniently just opened up yesterday. They still have the realtor lockbox on the back door. I called HQ and asked if there was any way they could get the load rescheduled or turned into a drop, so that I don't have to sit around all day just to lose my parking space when I leave to make my delivery. Otherwise, I put in for layover.

Would prefer to have the former happen, but I suspect the latter is more likely.

 

Interesting. But I guess they probably have terminals all over.

Last time I was in Wytheville, it looked like the new gate in the middle of the lot wasn’t being used or was somehow blocked and the old one was the active gate. Did I see that right?

Yeah, they have not yet deployed the middle gate. There were Plans(tm) where they were going to make a shiny, brand new office building and a repair bay and demolish the current old house that serves as the office, and the middle gate was going to be the primary access to all of that. Those plans fell through some time back and seem unlikely to be reignited.

 

I feel...unclean.

On the volvo York dedicated run again this week and til the end of next week when the normal driver is supposed to come back from being out of town. I thought I had scored me a dedicated run with steady miles, lol! It is so nice having a week’s worth of loads stacked on me where I just turn and burn with no waiting on a planner or DM.Isaid Id stay on it if the other guy decides to leave it.

 

Is that the one where you have to sign a whole phone book's worth of bills?
