    In response to you:

    1. The hair follicle testing has come a loonnngg way in a few years and if you were not given the option to use different areas of hair, then that is on the company you were applying to. Just so you know, in your case, you are probably the minority for those who ask that question. In my experience, as an office manager in a different life, if you ask questions like that, you have something to hide.

    2. I really don't care about your personal opinion of me, yoda. Ironically, this was one of the threads I read in making my decision to come to Abilene.

    3. I did complain about home time & miles because at the time, I was not getting them due to issues with a certain FM (and I am not the only one who had issues with her), being told NOT to call on the phone & to use the qualcomm, being newer to the company and not knowing how things were done here. When I was on the other side of the desk at Smithfield, the drivers were planned out for that day and for the next morning before I left for the day, not the case here. I have since learned quite a bit about how Abilene operates & have built a relationship with my current FM and I am happy with my situation.

    4. The not cleaning out of the fridge? What about the fact that the truck was also in need of repair that could have been taken care of in the 3 weeks I was out? You fail to mention that bit of information that was a part of the original post. If a driver has a FAMILY EMERGENCY and asks for help from a fellow driver, in MY OPINION, it deserves at least an attempt to help, not an outright dismissal. In the end, it came out a lot better for me that they didn't. I got a brand new fridge. But, at the time, I was not thinking of the food in my fridge or even Abilene's truck, which I limped from TX to GA while attempting to get home. I was thinking of my mother in the hospital fighting for her life & getting home. Would ANY of you done differently? I doubt it. The only thing I would've done differently? I would have left the truck in Dallas and flown from there had I known at the time just how serious my mother's condition was, but due to HIPPA rules, I couldn't be told by the nursing staff over the phone.

    5. As for the minions comment, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck....it probably is a duck. John knows a lot & has been around for a long time, which I respect in this business, and I have even heeded his advice, but no one knows it all. And that is NOT a slam on him (lest you think it is). There is more than one way to skin a cat (as my grandpa always said) but it seems that anyone who has a differing opinion than any one of you is not welcome. You're like the mean kids in high school putting others down & trying to prove you're so much better than everyone else when you aren't. If you'll recall, the minions comment was made after my comment that you could keep the NE and NYC miles & the resulting backlash. I did not say that I would turn down the loads, mind you, just that I prefer not to run up there. I stated my opinion and was personally attacked for it. So, I responded in kind.

    6. "one of the minions" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I have a mind of my own, thank you very much. I've never been good at going along with the crowd just because someone thinks I should. If you took such offense at that one comment, maybe you need a thicker skin?

I don't post much in this thread because I enjoy just lurking and reading JB's adventures. I do remember siding with the minions...but I also enjoy reading your point of view RC...so please keep posting. I don't always agree with you (and sometimes I do!!) but your experiences definitely keep things in perspective.

Finally made it to Forrest City. Got there at 2pm for an 8pm appt. Was in and out by 2:30. Really? Cool. 635 miles up to Groveport, ETA is 3:30am for a drop and hook. We will stay on property for our reload assignment from right there, probably a multi stop load back out west. Gonna grab some sleepy sleepy. Nite all!

Most companies who do the hair test, don't go back even that far, costs too much. The very few companies who do the follicle test, go back 90 days at most. But, most men ask due to keep little to no hair. But then there's people who've been prescribed pain meds that will show up on there. Even with prescriptions, they can say no. But those same pain killers, flushed and clean on a urine test in 3 days with most people. Companies even tell you if you've been on leave due to injury and taking pain killers, stop 3-4 days before the test. So not everyone is guilty, just have had medical problems but the safety departments and doctors won't care when it shows up and they fail you for a prescribed medicine. Don't be quick to judge.

By far the most productive day I've had in a while latest I've been up driving entire year. Woke up yesterday morning @ 9 in NY Long Island to a few snow flurries, cars park bumper, was unloaded at 2stops, reloaded up later that evening then dropped that load about 7hrs later & here I am home lying in my own bed 2am in Richmond days well done.

Got to BH in Groveport about 3:30 this morning. After dropping the loaded trailer we parked in the bobtail section with about 4 other Abilene trucks and about 10 other outside carriers. I figured we would go to sleep and check in when the powers to be showed up in the office. I decided to call in and check with Jonathan, I'm glad I did, even though we had no load info, I was assigned to a load. Here we again, that need to know deal I keep talking about. Jonathan gave me the trailer number and the destination, then I went and got the paperwork and hooked up. We left about 4:30 this morning with a 2 stop load, first drop 9am Sunday in Reno, second drop 3pm Sacremento. We made it to the Loves in Richmond Indiana, fueled and showered then left. Right now we are sitting in Davenport Iowa taking a little break. Be safe all!

Really, the flag on the moon deal again? Just answer this question that has had me baffled the last 45 years, why is there ripples on it if there is no air or wind?
