Ask her if she can work out with a driver for you to catch a ride. I've picked up a few drivers and brought them into Richmond for orientation.

hey...concerning abilene training ,is it team driving from the start?
I got a buddy from school going thru transam training and its been team driving the whole time and hes got night shift.
He said he fell asleep at the wheel 4-6 times last night and his trainer got pissed when he stopped the truck to take a walk and get some coffee....said it was pretty scary..jd -
Not at all, especially in my truck. You will crawl first, then stand, then walk, then run. There's far too much as a new driver in this industry to grasp, learn, and understand long before you are considered anything close to a team. Trans Am does things so much different then we do. just look at their equipement, it speaks volumes. Me personally, if your friend was on my truck I'd get pissed also, for him not having the thought process to shut the truck down the first time he got sleepy. Like I tell all my trainees, you aren't the important one on the truck, my wife at home, my house, my 2 Labs and my retirement 4 years down the road are. I've been at this too long to jeopordize any of those things. Our training is 6 months. In those 6 months you will either sink or swim. It took me 35 years to get 35 years safely in this industry, it'll take you the same time to achieve that. As far as I'm concerned, 6 months isn't long enough.Pigsdofly, Lonesome, Cranky Yankee and 2 others Thank this.

Had the luxury of doing a reset at the Pilot in Shelbyville. I was 16 hours in when I got empty, the load I was assigned to had Time on it, so I reset my hours, 3 days after coming off hometime. Not a happy camper. But, I was able to finish the payperiod strong, with 4 days off.
I left Shelbyville at 8pm last night, met up with Bman at the J in Spiceland for a cup of coffee and to let him hear me biotch for a while, then drop and hooked in Groveport. I did my first drop this morning in Roanoke and now sitting at the Pilot in Danville Va, 58 miles to my last drop. I'll leave here at 9 tonight, be at the last drop in Durham at 10, and take my 10 there. I will be empty at 5:30, then wait on Tim to get my next adventure. I'm kinda hoping the freight babysitting is over with. It's time to work. -
thanks...my thoughts exactly...my buddy did stop the first time but his trainer got pissed and told him to get rollin and then climbed back in the sleeper... glad i am going abieneCranky Yankee and JohnBoy Thank this.

2 labs JB? You're not "breaking bad" to fund your retirement on us are ya? Just kidding JB! I've got an Akita border collie (if you ask him he's 94% timber wolf)!
West Memphis to Moscow to Wythville yesterday. Bringing it to the yard in a few hours, hopefully!JohnBoy Thanks this. -
I'm sitting in Woodbury NJ making the first of 2 drops, with a driver that needs a trip to the northeast. Our second drop is in the Bronx. I drove from Richmond to here, he now gets to have fun the rest of th day. He asked me how long is he going to drive, I told him I really don't know about driving, but when you use up all of your 14 hour clock I'll take over, we should be back in Virginia by then.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
You must have passed me during the night, I was at the rest stop on 95 in Delaware for my Philly delivery. Looks like a back haul to Richmond out of here too. That will work since I think I'm going to have to take a 34.

I stayed at the J in Carneys Point NJ last night. At my first drop then the kid is taking me to the South Bronx, this oughtta be good, stay tuned.
