I just woke up from a nap. I started my day at 2:30 this morning in Gary In. I drove straight up to Madison Wi to meet my good friend Chris (the rookie) who I worked with at Calex. He was coming out of Minneapolis going to Ct, so we met up at the TA for breakfast. I ended my day, 690 miles later in Mitchell SD. I have 495 miles to go to Lame Deer Mt. I'll be leaving at 1am, stop in Rapid City for fuel and shower, then head to my first drop and camp out tomorrow at their dock. Time for supper then the rest of my sleep. Be safe and God bless.

My 10 hour break was up at 1am this morning. I got up at 12:30, washed up got a cup to go and drove non stop the 248 miles to the Pilot at the 55mm in Rapid City. I got there at 5am my time, fueled, showered and had breakfast. I had enough time on my 70 to get to my first drop with an hour and a half left. I got to this one horse town called Lame Deer with only a stop sign in the middle of town. All I wanted to do was find the store and go to sleep. This store along with the rest of the town was all Native American and on a reservation. All I had to do was make either a right or a left at the stop sign, I went left, wrong! I went down about 100 yards and saw the Reservation Police dept. ok, here goes the white man into the police station to ask where in the hell this store is. They were real cool about it and told me I should have turned the other way at the stop sign. One of the cops walked out with me and held up the only car in town so I could back into the cop shop parking lot and get turned around. I got to the store and went inside to see the manager. She told me to go around the building and to back into the only half assed dock they had. As I was getting lined up to bump the dock, all I was thinking was sleep. Not to be. She was there with about 4 dudes with crowbars to unload my 2 coolers. I was done with my first stop a day early, I had enough time to drive the 100 miles to Sheridan Wy to go to sleep. I got here with exactly 2 minutes left on my 70. I pick up 10 hours after midnight. Now I'll do Lander Wy and the 2 in SLC tomorrow instead of Lame Deer and Lander. I enjoy the hell out of these Ltl loads. They require a little more thinking and a lot more trip planning. I'm tired and hungry. I need to get up at 4:30 am my time to drive the 240 miles to Lander and be there for when they open at 7am.
Jrdude5 and Voyager1968 Thank this. -

Yes sir, ltl loads are a blast. Most of the time if you call the consignes, they will take you when you get there. They do present some challenges, though, like you said. Small places, crazy docks, etc. Just gets your creative juices flowing! LOL
Came off my home time this morning. Had called both Saturday and Sunday to get load info for today. Kimberly told me to call Sunday and on Sunday she told me to come to the yard this morning. Sent a msg asking where they wanted my empty and got a don't leave yet Higgins will have a load for you. Um, sure, I am only driving towards Richmond at the moment! LOL so stopped in Wakefield and waiting. Too bad I didn't use off duty drive. Forgot to click it when I left cost plus warehouse. This is why I don't like coming back on a Monday. But, never did get to talk to Jonathan over the weekend. Kimberly answered both times I got thru and the other times no one picked up.
Oh well.......JohnBoy Thanks this. -

Was rolling at 4am my time this morning. I had 240 miles to go to get to Lander for my second drop. I got there just as they were opening the gates. I was done in an hour and headed the 305 miles to SLC for my third drop. I got there at 1:45 local time and was done at 2:00. It took me longer to drive the 3 miles to Sapp Bros truck stop them it did to make the drop. I had 40 minutes left on my clock so I'm spending the night here hooked up to Idleaire. I called my last drop in Twin Falls to let them know I would be there in the morning just to find out they are closed until next Tuesday. After a few different phone calls I was told to bring the two crates to a storage facility also in Twin Falls. They gave me a confirmation number and told me to be in there at 7am. I then called the storage place to confirm everything and I was told to bring them in at 7am and I would be unloaded immediately. Today was a good day, 540 miles and 2 drops, in fact, this whole trip has been a dream.
IdleAir Thanks this.
