Had a nice, uneventful trip out here. Lookout pass was under construction so really couldn't look around too much there, but other than that, the scenery was beautiful. Decided to stop for my reset at the TA in North Bend after reading the bad comments about the place right at the receiver. Made a good choice with the awesome mountain views here. Had to pay to park here as every spot was full at 2 in the afternoon. I think they have more reserved parking than any other TA/Petro I have seen. But, it was sold out by yesterday afternoon for today. Glad I went ahead and got it for 2 days. Hopefully delivery will be quick and I can get reloaded and back without incident as well. Would like to try a different route just to cross off another state on my list of states I've been to. So far, SD and CO are the only ones I'm missing.

I guess I opened my big mouth too soon. Broke down this morning on the way to delivery. Imagine that! A hose broke off Under the hood right by the steering column. Have no clue what the heck it does still. I will ask at the shop, though. Roadside guy said it went to a compressor. It was a 15 minute fix because he had the fitting that it messed up just by chance. I heard a pop and a bunch of air hissing out. Thought I had a tire going down so got off the road as quickly as I could. Still made my delivery on time, too, since I'd left early. Got to Costco at 11:15 and was out of there at 12:15. Had reload info consisting of this: go to Lakeview Wa and pick up going to Martinsburg WV. Call this number for info. Called broker, he said doesn't load til tomorrow and would not even give me address for pick up. Still don't know. Big secret, I guess! LOL.

Well, after reading up a bit and talking to a recruiter and a few of the drivers, I submitted my online application tonight to Abilene.
Wish me luck...

Pending the Medical Exam and Drug Test in Charlotte on Monday, I report on Wednesday in Richmond for Orientation. Unless something unexpected pops up, looks like I am starting my driving career with Abilene Motor Express.

Good for you, Midwest MacDaddy! I think you've made a good decision and will prosper here. Folks are pretty helpful ( well some are) and equipment is nice. Show them you will run and the miles will follow. If they don't, all you need to do is speak up and it will be remedied. We are all here for you!
Lookout pass✔️, 4th of July pass✔️, Snoqualmie pass✔️, Sherman pass✔️, pull Cabbage pass✔️(with 79680 lbs, no less!). Did I miss any? I'm tired of seeing mountains for a while. Glad to be in Nebraska and some flat land for a bit! Will be dropping this load at the USX terminal in Markham (Chicago on a Friday afternoon. Yea!) since it doesn't deliver until Monday and I'm supposed to be home then. Wonder what the planning gurus will have for me out of there!?!?
Just to make the trip even more memorable, my son was playing football at his girlfriends house yesterday and broke his elbow. Yeah. Every time I go more than 1700 miles out, something crazy happens at home. Think I need to just stay east of the Mississippi River for a while.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
Thanks RC... I am sure I will have many questions.
And sorry to hear about your son... Darn kids.

We are headed back to Richmond, we deliver 5am in Gordonsville on Tuesday. Jason is finished with his training and will get his own truck when we get back, me? Home on Thursday, on the ship Saturday, God only knows I need it. As a trainer, once a trainee is ready, these 7000 mile weeks get old. Jason is ready, he has been, now it's time he puts to use everything he's been trained on.
