Good luck with your training. Who did you get for a trainer? The difference between the KW and the cabin on the ship is the person I'll be sleeping with.

Enjoy the sunshine and sand during your trip... and don't be worrying about all of us back here, we will be just fine ... for a little while anyways...)

I have a bunch of errands to do today, the first one is moving the big truck to my long term secure lot I park at when it's vacation time. Once parked that's it until we get back. Another is sending my buddy Bman20 his tool pouch and vacuum cleaner to his house, it's only been in my side box for 3 months now.

Update:
After a day and a half of Orientation then Road Test then "camped out" in the truck we finally picked up a load on Friday morning and headed west. No driving for the newbie the first day but logged 350 miles in 6 hours today with more coming tomorrow.
Waiting here in OK for someone to bring us a different load heading east and they will then take our load going onto Chino, CA.
I was really looking forward to my first trip out being Coast-to-Coast but I guess us newbies are not supposed beyond OK while in Stage One of training.

Drum roll please. I've found a local position and will be leaving Abilene on the 18th. Now, don't everyone cry too hard! It was a difficult decision to make, but my mothers health is my first priority and some of the issues she's been dealing with have me a bit worried.
I've given my notice, so felt it was okay to go ahead and post it here. I was asked if there was anything they could do to keep me. We know how trucking is, and I couldn't be home or even run a specific area because, nature of the beast, it just wouldn't work. I was also told I would be welcomed back should I decide I would want to go OTR again. That made me feel good. I don't think it would've been said had it not been true.
That being said, I'm selling my microwave and TV. Won't need them in a day cab. Microwave is a Rival 700w. Only about 9 months old and TV is a Vizio 22" screen 1080p. I also have a rocketfish doodad that you can hook up your HTC or Samsung phone to the tv with a hdmi cable. Might even get rid of the one I have for iPhone that does the same thing. If anyone is interested, let me know and we can figure out how to get together.
It has been a good almost 3 years here and I've learned so much from the people at Abilene. I will continue to let people know that this is a good OTR company. (As MD can attest to.) Best of luck to everybody.
