Maybe you need a YouTube channel so that you can share those training opportunities you gave to other truckers... :)

Well I made it to CT for my hill delivery. The best part is a taco bell on the same lot and a place to park tonight. Chalk another one up for the load count.

Just got my marching orders. Need to load paper up in Riceboro Ga later today. Been there about 6 times already. Nice pick up. I don't know where it's going, I'll find out when I get to the truck. My wife is throwing me out the door, she's got the grandbaby coming over today so I get to play second fiddle. Be safe all!

Finally finished for today. CT to Jersey, Jersey to Va then drop/hook headed to FL for Thursday. It can't get any easier than this. Hope all is well to my fellow green machine drivers.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

Ok... Finally got my wish... Be careful what you ask for... Loaded up last night and headed to Brooklyn... Was here a few minutes before they open at 2am... Hoping to get unloaded early and out of the city fast but it wasn't meant to be. Here at 2am for a drop at 5am which they didn't call for until 7am... And now at 11am we are still waiting to go pick up the empty trailer... Who knows when we will be rolling again... Ugh.

Still need a bit of spit and polish on my backing skills... These New Yorkers were not very patient with this newbie... Was on a tight street for a slight angle straight back with cars on both sides... I misunderstood which dock in my mirrors and got angled the wrong way. By the time I pulled up to attack it again, my trainer pulled me off. Guess the guy coordinating the dock wasn't happy that it was taking me more than five minutes to back up to his dock. (Unlike us now waiting around for SIX HOURS for them to unload the dumb trailer... lol)

And for any NY Drivers that may read this... Y'all are nuts up here... People driving on the sidewalks to get around me and darting behind other drivers as they backed into a spot. Geesh.

But on the other hand, been watching a few other Drivers back a 53' into an eye of a needle... So that was awesome to see what experienced Drivers can do with a Big Rig in reverse... Many of them are our cohorts in green.

So now we wait... To grab our soon to be empty trailer (hope springs eternal) and head to pick up a load of pickles... Heading south to Florida... That load is to have 10 drops so I am hoping to work out a few kinks in my backing or at least get more practice.

I will need to be very insistent that I do all the backing from this point forward... Kind of missing my last trainer... He has been the only one to just assume the trainee needs to do a vast majority of the backing. I have made it fairly clear this is an area I need practice in but guess I need to be a bit more assertive.

Ok... Phone is ringing... Let's hope the trailer is ready to roll.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

Ok, that was an experience... Left the dock and headed to 495 only to discover the road was closed ahead of us... After we had already gotten boxed in. No way to turn down the side road as that was worse. There was another Abilene Driver (#1633? Sorry I didn't give his name) behind us too and in the same situation just closer to the intersection behind us.

So we decided to block both sides to keep the city folk from filling the void. By block I mean me standing in their way. Luckily only one older guy gave us any grief. After both lanes were clear, except for two huge green trucks, we backed them side by side then proceeded to block traffic from all ways and backed across the intersection together.

Once on the far side, it was a simple left turn and POOF... We were gone!!!

I must say, except for one old guy and a #%}%#} cop who stopped (I thought to help traffic) who once understood the situation asked "so I can get though there right?"... Ya sure... Go for it... So he did and pulled right through and left. Oh yes, the finest of NYPD's finest there... Anyway I digress, except for those two exceptional people, most everyone actually took it in stride and while some still ended up going through for one reason or another, everyone worked with us rather nicely.

Just another day in the Big Apple...

    Cheers,
    MD
