So, first day solo, ran to PA for a quick drop and now sitting in the second shipper's loading dock until 1am when my 10 is up and then running back to VA for a 7am drop. Will be tight on time but it's a drop and run so I guess we have a bit of flex in the actual drop time. Will shoot for 7am and hope I miss any problems between here and there.

Did two backs completely solo today. First one had plenty of room but still took a few runs at it.

The second was much tighter but watched the Driver ahead of me back into it and he did just as I had envisioned in my head for the back so I guess I am "seeing it" in my head... But I dropped the ball on implementation... Took a few runs at it and somehow ended up squirrelly a couple times but eventually I bumped the dock... Truck wasn't straight with the Trailer but it was square and straight enough to the dock to be a functional back. Even if it wasn't as pretty as it looked in my head... LOL

1313 Mockingbird Lane was the Munster's address. You got their truck number.

So if you see a Big Green truck on the lot, or in a ditch, with the number 1313, ;-)[/QUOTE]

The older Volvos pull better in my opinion. That freightliner was best at pulling that I had but I too am in a volvo. 15 series. I'm in PA myself. Carlisle delivery this morning, then up to Dallas, and now I ran out of my 14. I didn't make it out of here. Worst part is this rain. I've been in it ever since I left the house Sunday.

Congrats on officially being a solo driver, MD! You're going to be fine. If you stop getting a little stage fright, then it's time to worry.

I didn't know Abilene had any deliveries up in Dallas, PA. I used to live up that way, is the place offset paperback, that's the only big shipper out of there that I can remember.

Ok... So the funniest thing happened today.

Was dropping a trailer about 30 miles from the Wytheville Yard... In the process of unhooking and this stranger walked up to me and said "Hello, MacDaddy" which totally threw me for a loop as hardly anyone would actually call me that. Before I could fully process what viable options could cause this conversation to start in such a way he said "I'm 5speed" ... LOL

So that explains it but I then had to ask "how did you know it was me???"

It was the truck number that I just posted what yesterday??? LOL

So glad I finally got the opportunity to cross paths with one of you yahoos out in the real world.... I wondered just how long it would take. Had a couple close encounters at the Richmond Yard but now it finally happened!!!

    Stay Safe,
    MD
