Oh and the other day I missed my turn from 70 to 270 and my CoPilot Truck Routing Map App rerouted me right towards a 13' 2" bridge... WTF!!! ... So I got to back up that four lane road for a bit getting turned around... With the help of one of the Greater St. Louis Area's Finest... He even thanked me for not taking out their bridge... LOL
Did I mention I thought I needed practice backing.... I guess I needed to be more specific... LOL

Dude, keep up the good work. What you are going through is the same #### the rest of us do, even me at times, and I've been out here a little while. Like I tell every one of my trainees, it doesn't matter what you are faced with during your day, if you didn't hit anything then it's all good. The rest? It's a learning experience.
UTurn1, 5speed, MidWest_MacDaddy and 2 others Thank this. -
Good morning all! Had an interesting day of it yesterday. Load delivered to a strip mall, and guess what. No loading dock! After backing between parked cars slalom style, I sat across the aisle, neatly parked in 4 parking spots and the driving aisle. Then I got blocked in. The receiver proceeded to hand unload me, and after 3 hours between unloading and inching my way across the parking lot, I was free to roll.
Sitting at the yard awaiting my next dispatch.
Oh, and I will be staying out over thanksgiving, the gf and I decided to do ours a week early, so I could monopolize my time out/pay ratio for christmas. -

Glad you got out without incident. -
Got my dispatch yesterday around 4pm after waiting all day. I left the house at 5am, deadheaded up to Riceboro Ga yet again and was loaded at 1pm. I'm dropping the load in Richmond early in the morning.
Here's a little comical twist in my day. I started my truck up at 4:45. My QC came alive with a message from someone introducing himself as my new FM, based out of our Wytheville yard. Now look, after almost 3 years here, this will now be my sixth FM. Right now, with the way Abilene operates, I could care less who my new FM is, it could be the chair he sits on in the office, not my concern. Our FM's have nothing to do with dispatching, that all is handled by the load planners. I've seen and learned very quickly when I started here that our FM's are one of two type of supervisor, either a baby sitter, or a personal secretary. I, without a doubt, know what category everyone I've had fits in since coming to work here. It just gets a little old going through this. I mean really, 6 in 3 years? Really?
I'll be up and rolling at 3am. I'm only 3.5 hours from the yard. Hopefully I get something that will keep me busy for a few days. Or maybe I can swing by Wytheville to meet my new FM.Last edited: Nov 13, 2015

Wow, you're the 8th person I've heard of this week that has a new fm. Must really be doing a lot of switching around. Did you get Paul? I've heard he's decent. Actually all the folks out of there are pretty much on top of things, IMO. Maybe I need to check my Qualcomm. Also been hearing a lot of pickups in riceboro. Be happy you can drop on the yard. Cambridge doesn't unload early and they are s-l-o-w!!!!
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
The boys over in Wytheville have always been good to me. I have zero issues working with them. I'm just questioning the logistics with having a FM there instead of Richmond, but hey, I'm paid to drive, someone else is paid to think.MidWest_MacDaddy and RebelChick Thank this. -
Riceboro is nice. The folks there are super fast. I like the tall bench in the office. Always joke with the guy there they need to go for the full sauna experience.
I'm with you on the thinking part. Whenever someone (shipper/receiver etc.) asks me why or what, I just tell them I'm just the monkey behind the wheel and they need to ask the company.MidWest_MacDaddy, mitrucker and JohnBoy Thank this. -
Headed to Idaho. 3 drops, Denver, Salt Lake City and final in Pocatello Idaho.
