But I don't think it applies to people coming straight out of CDL School... Only if they are actual experienced drivers... Or so I think.

Well, the ending is coming to my first home time after being assigned my own truck... Rolling out first thing in the morning after my wife drops me off at the truck on her way to work. (Parked 15 miles from home this time at a local WillCo/Hess with truck parking)
We got a few things organized in the truck this afternoon and I now have a microwave securely mounted in the truck and, with the help of 5speed, got the power to the outlets turned on so I can now at least make hot water for a cup of coffee... lol ... and I packed my winter coat and boots but I sure hope I don't need them anytime soon.
I have a short ~300 mile run to kick off this round and then see where the road takes me.
Stay Safe,

Got to a Walmart in Lumberton, NC with like 8 minutes left on both my clocks... Went in, did some shopping for the next couple weeks... Went back to the Truck and like 15 minutes there was a security lady stopping at my truck asking if I was over night parking... I said "I was hoping to do so"... Nope... No parking for Trucks, just RVs... and it didn't matter that I just spent money with them either. So I had to move and park on the surrounding road to the parking lot... So I am not parked "on the lot" but I could open my door and spit on it... LOL

MD, you will find more and more WM won't let trucks park over night. Sucks, but, unless some of the nasty ones stop being nasty, I get it. (Just look at the sad state of the furniture at the yard for instance!) I have the pleasure of having to park on an on ramp this evening. First time ever having to do that and I'm not thrilled about it. Kroger warehouse in Shelbyville IN. Make sure if you ever go there that you have loads of time left on your clock. Appt at 9 pm, got out of there at 1:30 am. Of course ZERO parking since so close to Indy and not allowed to stay on their lot. Fist time there, I got hit in the pilot parking lot and this time nowhere to park. Think I'll skip this place from now on!!!
@5speed--What's a preplan? Hell, I even asked long before I got here tonight could I get one so I'd know which direction to head once I got out of there. Did I hear anything back??? Nope. Guess I know I'm not a favorite child. Bummer.5speed Thanks this. -

Yep. That's about where I was when I had my right side torn up in that pilot. It was horrible in there last night so I went elsewhere, but at 2 am even elsewhere isn't anywhere! It's all good. Slept pretty good and got up, headed into the loves and got a shower. Wonder if there's anything on the qc yet? Guess I'll see when I get back to the truck. It also depends on who's area you're in at the time. Some of the planners are better than others. It is hard to get out of fl, especially when you know there are a ton of others down there in exactly the same predicament as you. Last time I was there in the keys, my fm said stay put til we figure out what we're going to do. I politely reminded him that unless I was picking up in the keys, I was 100 miles from Miami and was heading north. Left there at 8 am and finally got a load assignment at 4 pm for riceboro ga to cambridge md. I think I was almost to jacksonville by the time I got it. Sheesh.

Heading to Orlando and Venice, FL on this load... Will stop this afternoon for fuel at I-95 Exit 1 in GA before hitting FL ... and grab a shower there too... Then roll on to Orlando and park in the Lumber Liquidators parking lot over night.
