So a winter time is coming question... Are we supposed to put any kind of additive in the fuel over the winter months or are the tanks heated or something to keep the fuel from gelling?
Also, I have plenty of wintertime driving experience, but none with 18 wheels and 80k behind me... Other than the normal slow down and put more space ahead of you and know that bridges do ice first... Any other pearls of wisdom yo give me during my first winter driving season?
Stay Safe,
MD

JB & RC,
So ones FM is Broken and the others might as well be one of the recliners in the lounge... (Of which two were broken and discarded already)... Not sure just what I should expect from a FM going forward... LOL -

I had to cut this week short. I was going to go home on wed but my little girl is sick in the hospital and I went home last night. I'll probably take a whole week off. Everyone be safe this week and enjoy the holiday.

@5speed- hope your little girl is ok. Nothing like being out here and not able to get home right then.
@JohnBoy- nope. Didn't get the load you dropped. They sent me 290 miles to Pasadena TX to pick up a load going a whole 85 miles. Wow!!! But, it kept me moving. Sitting in line right now to be loaded. My hours are pretty crappy for today thru Thursday (of course, when I need them) and pretty good for Friday-Sunday. Then it's home for 3 days of being poked and prodded by a lovely medical professional.
@MD- I can't say he's broken, maybe just tired of it? Not sure, but I will see what happens between now and the end of December.5speed Thanks this. -
Woke up yesterday morning in Dallas and was rolling to Byhalia at 3am. I stopped off at our West Memphis yard and dropped off this empty reefer trailer and grabbed an empty dry van. I was hooked to my load and had just enough time to get to Birmingham before my 70 ran out. I fueled and showered there then was in bed at 7pm. I was up and rolling at 2am with 495 miles to go. I got to my drop at 11:30 am and was done at noon. My problem was, I had 2.5 hours left on my 70 and had to wait until midnight to leave after I pick up 11 hours. I'm leaving at a somewhat normal hour in the morning at 5am and I'll be home by 9:30.
I'll have been gone 11 days and probably 10 of those I've been up and rolling between 2 and 3 am. I'll be home until Saturday morning, I spoke with the load planner and he's got a load for me to drop and hook Saturday evening. I love this time of year, I get extra time off. I'm beat. Good night all. Be safe!Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy and tractorman1970 Thank this.
