Check the conditions from Farewell Bend Oregon, which is at the P.O.E. at the 353mm to Baker City. Right before Baker City is Ladd Canyon, notorious for wind and black ice. After that check on Meacham/La Grande. Then of course Cabbage Hill at the 223mm. Right at the top of Cabbage is a scale/brake check area, if the chain law is up you can park there. Don't pull into the rest area right before the scale there, it's on a hill and a bear to get out of if it's snow packed.

Once you get to the 216mm you can un-pucker your cheeks, you'll be at the bottom of the mountain. From there to Portland is 216 miles, most of it along the Columbia River. With an HP load, just watch the wind and road conditions. Good job and be safe. Right before Christmas they deadheaded me 1050 miles to Colton Ca. I had a reefer trailer though, you have a dry van and we load a ton of grass seed out of Albany Or going back to Va. Keep us posted, I for one am following your progress.

You're doing great, MD. And it's awesome that there was another driver around as well. It's always nice to have a more experienced driver around when you're doing something new.

He really is doing great
I would have had him sitting in Laramie as light as he is
first time and allMidWest_MacDaddy and JohnBoy Thank this. -
Made it to Baker City and we called it good. Roads were starting to get a tad icy as the rain and mist started to freeze a bit... 300 miles to go and my 10 will be up at 6:30am so if it's mostly clear I will only be 30 minutes late.

We might have some rain come morning and temps hovering around freezing but once we get down cabbage it's should be in the lower 40s in Pendleton and Portland.

Got my load assignment. I load up in Riceboro Ga. It says 11pm, but it's actually a fcfs, I've loaded there about 8 times, it takes longer to open your doors and back in then it does to actually load you. I'm dropping this in the Richmond yard Tuesday. Be safe everyone, and great job Midwest Macdaddy, you made us all proud!
Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy and Cranky Yankee Thank this.
