I'm at Sabra in Colonial Heights and I see Abilene all over the place here. Perhaps one of you can tell me; what is this places major malfunction? I've been here approaching 5 hours and not even in a door yet.
-
They are the biggest producers of Hummus. All our loads are drop and hook. From what I've heard they are very disorganized in shipping. Just about every load out of there is late before it leaves.
-
Sitting in Belvidere, waiting on an EFS check for a late fee because no one rescheduled this load that was supposed to be here yesterday. Of course I was told "get it there asap & we're rescheduling it". There's another Abilene driver here waiting as well. Don't know how long he's been here, but I've been waiting 45 minutes. What happened to drop/hook????
Good to see you as well, John. I was surprised. Did I look it? LOL
@WalterSobchak - unorganized and they load nose heavy. Plus if your paperwork says its 38000, it's probably more like 42000. Make sure to scale it!
I'm sure I will be sleeping here this evening. Will have to jerry rig my bunk heater AGAIN. It went out on me last night. I don't think my truck likes coming here. The bunk heater broke last time I was headed here, too!!!!
Hopefully I will get a nice run out of here tomorrow. Until then, I guess I've got to call Abilene and see what's going on with that late fee.White_Knuckle_Newbie and JohnBoy Thank this. -
Miami here... Three hours after schedule to load out of the first cluster duck of a shipping yard... Trucks going every which direction... No control on who's next to bump which dock.
Then an hour to go like less than ten miles... Still waiting as there wasn't enough room left on my truck to pick up the complete second load...
And none of my pick up numbers were correct for any portion of the loads... Someone had a bad day in Richmond.JohnBoy Thanks this. -
Sitting in Cincinnati airport waiting for my wife to land. I have a 3 stop load that I left Richmond with this morning going to Ft Wayne, Milwaukee and Des Moines. I'm here tonight and tomorrow night. My wife's sister passed away last week and we are having the memorial tomorrow.
All I'm going to say about Abilene and my need to get here is nothing short of amazement. At 8:15 this morning I told Chris the deal, at 8:30 Marlon had this load put on a trailer, at 9am I was pulling out the gate. I know I can be very cynical, highly jaded about trucking, but what they did and how it came together left me speechless. Thank you Abilene!
I'm quite sure I'll be back to my old self Sunday afternoon when I leave, but for the meantime, I'll behave.Mark_2wain, White_Knuckle_Newbie, tractorman1970 and 4 others Thank this. -
Sorry to hear of your sister-in-laws passing. Prayers for you and your family. Be safe and do what you need to do. The rest can and will wait.
Abilene does get it together when it comes to things like this. One of the resins e all out up with the other stuff, I guess.tractorman1970, MidWest_MacDaddy and JohnBoy Thank this. -
Prayers flowing for you and your wife's family during this time and we look forward to your old self returning in the coming days.
Peace,
MDJohnBoy and tractorman1970 Thank this.
