Congrats man... I think you will like it here... And you might want to rethink the dinner on you... I can be an expensive date... LOL
But meeting up with the nice folks from here is always fun and interesting. Hope to run into you in the near future and have fun during orientation and training.
Be sure to ask whatever questions you might think of... We are rather used to it here... LOL

Well, after bumping up against my 70 for a few days in a row, I am now headed towards CA... Will be nice to get a few solid days back to back again. 33 hours drive to the drop with three days to get there... Should make for a few nice solid driving days.
Unless they swap out the load which I hope they don't but with Abilene it's always an option until you actually get to the drop site.

Crud... 10 hours 50 minutes of Drive Time today and only past the 686 mile marker... Drats, was hoping to crack another 700+ mile day...
So close but no cigar...
Maybe tomorrow or on the return trip... {sigh}Sherm117 Thanks this. -
How are the weekly miles there at Abilene? Was hoping a few of you could chime in with numbers.

for the NE runners (+anyone who may train me headed into the mountain west..) is it still cold enough to warrant overalls?
Also, just a raincoat or are rain overalls a help as well?
Thanks,

Shorts and Flip Flops...

But seriously, I would pack as light as possible...
Most of the time your exposure to the elements will be walking between the truck and the shipping/receiving office or the truck stop... or swapping out trailers which doesn't take too long.
Save packing for every possibility for when you are assigned your own truck. I have a small suitcase in my truck with my winter gear of heavy coat and winter boots, but I didn't take it with me during training... Well, granted I was training in AUGUST too... LOL
But others here may have better input.WotansVolkman Thanks this. -
Before I hit up against my 70 last week, I had over 3,600 miles during the prior 7 days... Now those were driven miles so paid miles will be a bit less but not by much.

1) Paid mileage
2) When do deliver---- mostly daytime hours or some AM (like between 12am to 6am) deliveries? i'm trying to ascertain if you're schedule can stay stable. -
It's OTR, the only thing stable is the uncertainty. Too give you an example, this past week I had a 4 dropper out to Colorado, my first drop was 1pm, the second drop was 6am, the third was noon and the final was 10pm. Then I had a 570 mile deadhead overnight to reload the next day.WotansVolkman Thanks this.

Varies... Most seem to be during the day but then some hit at 3am. I just dropped a load at a Sam's Club that was due at 3:30am.
Nope... I try to drive during my preferred drive time but you will get out of sync from time to time.
One must be flexible in OTR ... to meet customer expectations/requirements and to drive the hours needed to do so.White_Knuckle_Newbie and WotansVolkman Thank this.
