I think everyone here is pretty happy with Abilene... It, like any company, has its issues that's for sure, but it's a good place with good frieght and good equipment to drive.

Ask away... This is a fairly honest group.

I have thought about joining you guys, but I don't think I could deal with the 65 mph restriction specially when you have to run out west.

We run at 68 ... Are you with someone now that is not governed or at a higher level?

I used to run about 70 when I was running otr, now i work local and i am going a bit nuts. The wife doesn't want me to back on the road, but I always have a back up plan.

68 isn't all that far from 70 and most of us are a bit nuts too so you should fit right in... LOL

I was estimating... I wasn't thinking someone would actually check my math... Let's see... Subtract the 8, carry the 1... Wait wait wait.... That's wrong... Let me start over... if I had 70 apples, and someone wanted 68 of them, how many... Ugh, I forgot how much I hate those wordy math questions...

Oh come on Cranky, can't I just be "close enough"... Must we get into this new math???

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Ugh... Got an awesome load heading back to PA and four full days to get it there...

    But...

After a ten hour day tomorrow, I will once again be slamming up against my 70 and only getting 3.5 and 4.0 hours back for the next two days.

After those two night, I start having full clocks dropping off my 8 day... But too late to assure a timely delivery to the receiver...

So I am seeing a swap out coming in my future.

Your husbands issues at his present company don't happen here. We do have some slow times but nothing like what you describe. We get paid every 2 weeks which I have said time and time again is a bonus, if one has a few bad days, or takes an extra day or two at the house, you can come out and make it up. I have averaged 3150 miles per week the 3 years I've been here. That's 6300 per pay period.

Running the NE is good pay wise, but the stress level is through the roof by the time you get back to Richmond, and that's coming from a driver that was born and raised in the Bronx. I don't need that brain damage. I made 68k last year, I also trained a little. If I take out my training pay, as a solo driver, I made 62k and had great home time. I've been here 3 years and have 2 days of layover. This is the only company I have worked for that if you get empty at 3pm on a Friday, they will have a load for you or deadhead you someplace to get one on Saturday.

I've been at this for 38 years, I'm done in 4 more years when I turn 64. I'll stay here as long as they want me. Any questions just ask, one of us will answer you.
