Go into the owner operator forum or talk to guys like @freightwipper in the SNI thread . I don't know if you've ever run as an O/O , RC, but the freight lanes for everyone whether a single or a mega , all the money is in short mile direct ship and bounce , not an extra 24 or 48 on say a 1500 mile five day window

 

Unfortunately the metric for a big company tends to be to bill more revenue not profit. Which is less per mile but longer runs . Drivers aren't a liability if they sit because drivers get paid piece work and are exempt from minimum wage
