And beginning to think this topic might be better served in its own thread... Then you can engage many more drivers on the topic without limiting it to just a few of us... :D

If we have to start living under California laws, we will all be in trouble. Quickly.

Do I get their money? No, I get my money that I've earned doing this training. But yes, I get all my cpm for all miles run, plus a $200 bonus when they pass the various tests going from stage to stage. Which I give back to the trainee. Along with having spent about $75 per week on helping them eat properly. So, out of the extra $700 per week extra I make, the trainee eats better with me, gets to use all my reward points, gets the bonus I earn, and lastly, the most important point, one I can't seem to put a dollar amount on, he gets my 38 years of safe driving experience handed down to him. Priceless!

I am happy enough to receive the pay I agreed to. I don't want some of anyone else's pay and I most certainly wouldn't want someone else feeding me. A occasional friendly gesture that I can reciprocate, sure, but I couldn't live with myself if there was someone else buying my food while I was also earning my own money.

I agree with you, but my problem is I have a heart. A lot of new drivers have nothing when they show up as a trainee.I have been very fortunate in my adult working life. I can afford to take care of a few meals and give back to a new driver coming into this field. As long as said trainee listens, learns and wants this, he's got me in their corner, if not, by all means, eat that cold can of soup you bought in the dollar store.

It's never too late. Maybe one day you could teach me how to back or maybe teach me how to be a genius at math.
