I look at it this way, if it gets the load delivered on time, then I do it. Like anything else here at Abilene, if it works they leave you alone, if it doesn't, then you'll hear about it.

That truck is going to seem massive with just you in it. Should have asked them to lend you a Mack while solo so you don't rattle around so much.

Day 42....
After a unpleasant exchange with whoever my dispatcher is, they "allowed" me to dead head for home time.
So, does this mean as we get dispatched late loads, that we will get our home time late as well? I need to know this so when I have an actual appointment that I plan accordingly. I'm VERY disappointed. They are making feel like a 3rd class person. -
Once again, when you put in for home time, you should receive a QC message that same day, or the next, that it has been entered into the system. If you don't get the message, send it again or send a text message directly to your fleet manager asking if it was received. About 3 or 4 days before your scheduled home time, start reminding your fleet manager (not dispatcher) of said home time. If you have an appt to keep, put in that you need to be home the day before your actual appt. Oh, and don't let them tell you that home time starts the day you get home. Meaning if you ask for the 3rd and 4th off and head back out on the 5th, you are supposed to be home before 12 am on the 3rd. Otherwise they owe you an extra day. Even if you get home at 1am on the 3rd. So you technically will have the 3rd, 4th & 5th off and go back out on the 6th. Unless YOU want to go back out on the regular day.
Personally, I would've been in their face long before now about it. They tried to send me 500 miles west to get a load which would've made me late for an appt last time I was due home. Refused to go because it was mandatory that I get there, and got a dead head move home. Sometimes you just gotta be firm and say no, even if we are company drivers.Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and 2 others Thank this. -
Before I forget, if you're ever out in Hesperia CA, stop at the Pilot I-15 xit 141 and eat at the Oupost Cafe there. AWESOME FOOD!!!!! A little pricey, but well worth it.
MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and Redtwin Thank this. -
Problem has been mostly solved. I got to vent to the right person and bury the hatchet. They know now my breaking point. So, after a MUCH needed and overdue few days off, things should smooth out.
Now, if y'all will excuse me, I have some beer to drink.
Peace, and be safe out there.bigred81, Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -

I guess the 72 hour blitz started a little early in Kentucky. I got pulled in at 1:30 this afternoon for a Level 1 inspection. Passed with flying colors and got my sticker on my windshield. Time for bed, 4am will be here rather quickly.
