Yes, but I was told in Orientation that the amount was calculated at 7 CPM for solo drivers and 9 CPM for Teams.

Like I said, I have certainly "misunderstood" things within this company before but I am not sure just how 7 CPM could equate to 85%.

Now I have not check the numbers so if you have and the math works out, then you might be right... But then the information provided by accounting at orientation would have to be wrong ... Or again, I somehow why "misunderstood" something... LOL ;-)

Also, I am thinking the 85% is the $59.... So we are allowed an amount off taxes which is 85% of like $69 which equals the net amount of $59.

Those numbers may not be the right numbers but the per diem for tax purposes is actually calculated like that. It's not just a easy $59.

As to the two weeks thing, yes... That's why one must still apply for the balance due in per diem at tax time. If you are out for 14 days you are allowed to deduct 14x59 ($826)... But if you are only getting 7 CPM converted to "per diem" that would be 6,000 miles X 7 CPM ($420) ... So at the end of the year you could still claim the balance due of $826-$420 ($406)... Now if you didn't actually drive 6,000 miles then you are due back a larger amount.

Might be worth verifying with Accounting. I am sure they would love to hear from me again.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

Right now my brain is fried, my nerves are shot and I'm 66 miles to the start of my 10. I'll check on those numbers when I have an ounce of space on my brain, just not today....lol

Welp, I've been doing a lot of digging the past couple days. Talked to Schneider, Werner, PTL, Stevens, couple others. And Abilene. And I'm definitely going to sign up with Abilene if they still need a newbie trucker like me come August.

I'd sign up right now if I didn't have to keep working my current job for another month.

Amazon insurance will cover you the whole rest of the month after you quit. So my last day at Amazon will be August 1st, which will get me almost a full month of free insurance. Then get my kids for two weeks before they start school, then off to (hopefully) Abilene. Rusty said to wait until the end of July to actually put in my application, and I don't like counting my chickens before they're hatched. So I'm not going to assume I have the job. But I'm not going to bother applying to anybody else unless Abilene turns me down for some reason.

Schneider wanted to pay me .31CPM, and after a year it could be as high as .35! I don't like to burn bridges if I don't gotta, so I was all "Thanks, I'll think it over. Not gonna commit right now, but I'll call you back if I change my mind." :D

Why, Why, WHy, WHY?????? I will say it again. FRIGGIN WHY DO YOU TAKE A REEFER TRAILER INTO GATORADE????? This is day 4 of over 14 hour days for me and ya know what? I'm tired. Monday I went to unload with 3 others at a warehouse with Hill on. My trl had pallets of extra stuff they weren't expecting so instead of being 2nd, they made me wait till they got approval from their boss and I was last (4.5 hours). THEN, waited another 4 hours for dispatch to send me reload info (and yes I was on the QC and the phone repeatedly). Pick up 130 miles away and deliver 500 miles away by 0530. Um, not even close. Had to sit on it an extra day. Then took them 2 hours to send me a dh move from Cleveland to Columbus. Then another hour to tell me grab the first load back to sabra that gets done. Then on to the yard. And another wait today for a bs load coming over to Wytheville just so I could get stuck in the Gatorade loop for the weekend.

Oh, and I-81 was shut down in Roanoke so had to go through town with everyone else so instead of 4.5 hours to the yard it was 6.5.
