I made it into halls nice and easy. Got unloaded then sat around there for a couple hours waiting for a load. Tried calling a few times but got nowhere.

Eventually got a deadhead move 50 miles away in NJ. I head over there thinking it was one of our customers and I would get further load instructions on the way but nothing. Grit my teeth and start calling again finally get through to someone who gives me just a pickup number and the city its going to. No load numbers etc over the QC.

It wasn't until I was nearly an hour into my journey towards that city that a QC message comes through...while I am driving and cant read it.

I stop because I needed to scale anyway and that process takes over half an hour between waiting in line for scale and waiting for attendant once I am on the scale.

Head off again only to realize that the route to the consignee has no fuel stops once I leave NJ so I have to stop again. Just as well as I95 is stationary after the toll booth just north of carneys point.

By this point I am done. No point burning time creeping in traffic so I shut down at the flying j in carneys. I decide to take a closer look at the bol and the appt time is 1 hour earlier than listed on the QC so its yet another split sleeper if I am going to get there on time.

Only 264 miles today. I doubt the extra 10 cents is going to make a dent in that.

I met him in school but we did become close as I helped him get through it all. Especially the pre trip. As he said in his own words, "Chris, I can't even change the oil in my car". (Think he wrote about that in his thread)

I can say this. He passed but he was NEVER "comfortable" driving that truck. Tense and white knuckled just rolling around the yard. Then he went with Swift? Running the NW? I shutter to think. :(

I always got along well with our dispatchers and we'd kid around a lot. Occasionally I'd get the same thing and QC back ... Soooo ... next year then? o_O

    MidWest_MacDaddy and Finfn1372 Thank this.
