It is simple though. I was hired to drive and I go whereever I am told to. That was the deal I signed up for.
At no time was it intimated that I had any say in where that was so asking for a particular area...or to avoid one has never been an option I considered.
If longer more favorable runs are only given to those who ask for them and that is the way dispatch operates then that isn't on me and so be it.
I will continue to do the job as I was told it should be done and I agreed to do.

Seriously though, trailers are moving but information isn't. Simple communication could resolve this issue.
Finally time to roll.
Have a great one!Last edited: Jul 17, 2016

you see it as "begging for a treat"...
I have a feeling that the successful drivers here at Abilebe are not "begging" for anything.
Some people "let things happen" ...
Other people "make things happen" ...

Always check the yard for your trailer first.

Just another totally innocent yet lovable teddy bear of a fellow... Hoping not to get his backside kicked by the army.

That may be my issue. I see calling in for a load as begging. As busy as this industry is, one would think that loads would be waiting for the driver, not the other way around. I'm seeing that for some reason or another, this 48 state company is not 48 state unless they need to be. I understood just the opposite. So, I am disappointed with this. Truth would have been, "mainly eastern US, with some runs to the western states as available".
Then again, I see others on here with 3200 mpw avg. So, I know darn well the runs are there. I don't fully understand why I rarely see them. I logged a massive 1200 miles last week, being available Monday after home time, minus the forced trip to West Memphis for the repair. This run will post next week. I'll need 4700 total miles this week to make it right.
MD, don't get me wrong. I'm listening to you and everyone here. My personality is such that I may not fit the mold for Abilene. Only time will tell. But, what good is downtime when you aren't making enough to have mad money after paying bills? I realize that I have much to do that should have been done as soon as I soloed out. Wait, I did. I had a EXCELLENT chat with my DM within the first 2 weeks of soloing out. Then, she left and nothing was said. I and a few others got hung out to dry. I'm truly wanting this to be a growing pain phase and that it will be over with soon. As I've said before, the last thing I want to do is start looking for another job. Now, if I were doing something very wrong, then I'd be less perturbed. But, as of yet, only one suggestion that has been made that regards my inability to nap may be fixable. I'll talk to my doctor at my next visit. But, I just don't see that making a huge difference. Seeing that communication is very minor on Abilene's priority list, there is no way of knowing. I just hope and pray that a good heart to heart with Victor will improve things. Because sitting at the consignee a day early is not making anyone money. Except Pilot, that is. I need a fully relaxing couple of days off with much beer and a pool. Hopefully next weekend. -

@KD5AXG Don't feel bad. My pay period ended up being 3500 miles total. Yep. Broke down and lost 500 miles, was off for 5 days instead of 3 because of mom health and even my own health issues (did way too much out in the heat). So, all in all, not too god awful, but still a hit to the pocket. Can't have another one of them in the near future for sure. This week is starting out with truck in the shop for same code and a pm, so when I come out of the gate, hopefully there will be something with a bit of miles. Have not been in the right place at the right time for far too long now.
MidWest_MacDaddy and KD5AXG Thank this. -
@RebelChick I was wondering why you don't leave your truck at the yard during home time. That way they can work on your truck when you're home. That's why I do. I park the truck at the yard and write it up for pm. Then I hop in my car and drive home.
MidWest_MacDaddy and KD5AXG Thank this.
