If you take a nap for 7 hours, the smart thing to do would be to add another hour to that for a 8-2 split. This will reset the 14 hour clock but it wont reset the 11 hour clock.

When i'm on the road it's usually 5 hrs in the sleeper. No law is going to force me to sleep 8 hrs if im not tired.I bet the majority of the drivers do the same thing. But to make the DOT happy they say they've slept for 8 or longer hrs.

I only need 6-7. If i get 8 its cuz I'm not in a rush lol. It doesn't help I usually stay up late watching movies and relaxing.

Yeah I know. I got a talking to about that.
I logged off duty once while fueling to save my 70. Dispatcher told me I need to log on duty for that. It doesn't happen again.

I log on duty now, if i plan on doing a reset ill fill up BEFORE the 34 clock starts.

Anyway, I was trying to save time but shoot, it only takes me 5-8 minutes to fuel. So I figure I fuel about 3 times a week, filling up each time. That's only 15-24 minutes id save on my 70.

No big deal. So yeah, I log everything correctly now. Just starting out I don't wanna get in trouble with DOT and even bigger trouble with my company.

But if you are in Canada or as I prefer to call Canuckistan it would be 36 hours for your reset. So do not get caught up in Canuckistan when you are close to your reset. :biggrin_25521:

Well then the gods of trucking put you on elogs it wont matter as the time is by the second if it takes you 5 minutes to fuel then that's all it takes no 15 minute crap. But as luck would have it if you fuel I think its less than 80 gallons you can just flag it but you better have the fuel receipt if you are stopped.

Yeah I'm on e logs. Mostly I fill up over 120 gallons at a time.

I'm off duty when i pull into the truck stop. I go on duty as soon as I step out of the truck at the fuel island. Then back off duty when the pump's hoses are put up. Today it took me 7 minutes. That was with pumping 160 gallons. I was close to empty up here in Connecticut.

Elogs if you do not sign on you can travel 10 miles then it beeps asking if you want to change your duty status. Well simple logic tells me in the AM I pull up to the fuel pumps, then log on for my pretrip and fuel during my pretrip time. :biggrin_2558: Let some DOT ex spirt tell me I cant do a pretrip and fuel at the same time I will prove him wrong.

Yeah that's what my trainer did too. We'd fuel in the morning and do a pre trip.
