Looking at a home weekly team driving job. They say they cover 5400 miles per week, so about 2700 miles per driver. They also say home weekly. I come up with 54 hours per week driving assuming average speed of 50 mph.
About how many hours per week to drive 2700 miles?

Avg speed overall is lucky to be 40-45mph.
Assume all your hours will be used up by the time you get home. -
Labrador, LoSt_AgAiN, Omega1 and 1 other person Thank this.

What part of the country are u running.. Big difference between running midwest or west than it is running northeast in terms of average speed... Can cover alot of ground out west with a fast truck , long as u stay out of the mountains

I average 3600 miles a week pulling reefer and always get home with hours left on my 70. I have ran as many as 4100 miles in a week... I pulled in the yard at home with minutes left on my 70.
This week I'll have about 3700 miles and will probably have 4 or 5 hours left on my 70.
Edit: and im speed governed at 67 mph.InTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, Omega1 and 3 others Thank this. -
2700 is between Avenel NJ and LA one way, we were a married team with FFE Governed 63. Make this trip twice in 5 days and change, call it 6 days. By the time we both finish this, we are ready to sit one day, to get some hours back enough to do it again.
It's a little mind bending. One of our best work as well. Once Dispatch asked are we going to be late? I told them we should be there with 10 minutes to spare. We were there 4 minutes to the good once. 7 minutes to the good another time. They really needed to quit scheduling that close. US1 is about 30 miles worth of traffic lights. We always did some speeding to hit the greens coming and going. Precision trucking. If green great. But if yellow? Add 6 mph and hope the next is green. If yellow again add 2 more mph. (By then you are close to 50... in a 35) when back to green the third light knock her back down.
Most people cannot be on time going to the doctor across town and here we are doing it across the freaking country. There isnt anything in that #### thing worth that kind of stress. -

If all the stars lineup just right, I can hit 3500 to 3700 or so...but as others have said, depends on the terrain and truck speed.

I run from the Rockies to the Midwest and back every week. Loads are GENERALLY ready when I get there, and most recievers are good about getting thier product off my truck.
2 weeks ago I ran from Idahofalls, ID to Rigby, ID where I loaded. Then to Lima, OH for drop & hook. Reloaded in Bardstown, KY, and a second pick in Owensboro, KY. Delivered in Helena, MT and dead-headed back to Idahofalls, ID... 7.5 days, 4300 miles (first 150 were Ag. Exempt)... I pulled into the yard with 7 minutes left on my clock.Crude Truckin', D.Tibbitt and Labrador Thank this. -
You must have all long runs to manage it. We should all be so lucky.D.Tibbitt, Labrador and Cattleman84 Thank this.
