can someone tell me about swifts orientation out of millington tn? do you have to do a road test at orientation or after you finish with trainer and how difficult is it? swift said they would work with me even though its been a year and 1/2 since i last drove. also i was wondering when the trainer goes home is he supposed to take me home or put me up in a hotel and does swift pay for that? id appreciate it. thanks.

There are lots of threads about the Millington experience, do a search on here to read up.
Millington is the Swift Academy, orientation would be out of Memphis or the terminal that you will run out of, are you sure what they are asking you to do?
The mentor has to take care of you while he is on home time, usually he should put you in a motel that he pays for, but I have heard of other things happening.
Since you have prior driving experience, they might road test you at orientation to see how much time you need with a mentor. -
they said it was two and 1/2 days orientation before i go out with mentor. so the orientation is at the terminal and the school is in millington? they said i only had to go to orientation not have to go to the school. i thought they were both at the same place. i did go to a school but its been a year and 1/2. and they said they would work with me.

I also talked to swift about coming back after a few years out of a truck. From what I understand is that you will only have to go to orientation for the 2-3 days, you will need to take a roadtest with a driver to make sure you can drive while there. If you do not pass the road test you will need to take a refresher course. The orientation should be at the terminal but it may be different there. I was dealing with the Lewiston Idaho terminal, so a few specifics may differ. The road test isn't that hard. In Lewiston it is just a quick trip around the terminal and across town.

I don't think swift has a refresher course**

You're right, the swift schools themselves do not offer or have a refresher course. I asked the swift school in Lewiston ID and was told they were all or nothing, having to take the whole course and pay the whole fee. If a person needed a refresher course they would need to contact a CDL school. The two local to me have 40 hour refresher courses, and also will work with you more to tailor to your needs by charging per day. That way you can work on just what you need. I went back with Swift several years ago and went to a school for a day of driving and backing to get some practice before my drivetest and it was a good idea for myself being out of a truck for a couple of years at the time. I paid a couple hundred bucks, which saved me from having to go our with a trainer so to me money well spent. I was going to do the same thing this year but got hired on with a small local company that was way more lax about the time since I last drove.
