I'm sure by now dispatch has it figured out.
Enjoy your new career. -
Thankyou for your response. Yes, Im sure they do have it figured out. I shouldn't be asking questions until I see a problem. I'm concerned because of some of the things Ive been reading on the forum.

keep in mind that most people, especially these days, are negative. Then factor in how word-of-mouth works.
EX: If you have a good experience at a restaurant, you don't say much, because DUH!! YOU EXPECT to have a good experience! But, if you have a negative experience, you tell everyone who will listen about your terrible experience.
Now, the internet amplifies that 1000x, and then factor in that truck drivers are more whiny and like to gossip more than a teenage girls, and VOILA!! Bad perception!
I LOVE MAY!! I do my job...well, I might add, and the company acknowledges that. This week will be 3070 miles, last week was 2890, and the week before that was almost 3400. I'm slated for a new truck next week **w00t!** and I have never had one problem with dispatch (can't say the same for breakdown lol)
I love how everybody says they keep reading bad things about May. I chose May last year because of the lack of negative things. NOTHING has changed on that front. I still don't see any VALID negative comments. Most of the naysayers, you will notice, don't work for May, never did, or it has been quite some time since they did.
When I did my homework, I ready EVERY SINGLE THREAD/POST on May on this board, before making my decision. I passed on 3 companies while waiting on May to clear all their internal hurdles, and I have never regretted that.
That being said, anyone who says they keep reading negative things, or nobody makes money here or whatever the BS gripe is, CLEARLY is NOT reading the threads! 99% of my posts on this forum are in the May section, and I don't think I've posted one truly negative criticism of the company.
Do your homework, take your time, and make the decision that works best for you! -
you should be more worried about getting a bill for idleing then the governor and e-logs

American Trucker...I normally love your posts, but you just made my point.
You don't work for May, never have, and are making dumb statements based off 3rd party BS.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN CHARGED FOR IDLING, and I keep my truck like a meat locker in the Spring/Summersky king Thanks this. -
I know may drivers, i've talked to may drivers, i even know trucker steve. I know about may. I've never worked for werner either but i know your going to be bent over at every chance.
Their have been multiple compaints about getting billed for idleing, on here, on ripoff report, as well as drivers have tried to sue them to i beleive over it, if i remember correctly.
American Trucker -
Yes, I know plenty of May Drivers as well, and Trucker Stever, not sure how that changes anything lol
My point is, there is NO reason you should incur an idle charge. I haven't, and I refuse to sweat in the heat, or shiver in the cold!
I know that there are plenty of crybabies at every company, May certainly is no exception. They are the same people complaining about low miles...
hmmm...low miles = more time sitting around idling. ####, and get to work!
I know for a fact that Rob (OCM in P-Cola) works with most anyone on idle charges, and he is almost singlehandedly responsible for the new increased idle time policy. That being said, he told me the people who get charged for idle have idle percentages in the 60-70% range! Let's say you have 12 hours of driving, and being out of the truck (fuel, (un)load and meals) the MOST you would be at would be 50%. What kind of lazy ba$tard are you that you idle for 60-70%. #### and DRIVE!!! There, low miles and idling problems SOLVED! You're welcome! lol
Sorry for the hijack TS -
so they DO charge people then.....
Not trying to pick a fight but a 34 is a 34, i dont care how hard of a worker you are its still 34 hours especially to you guys on e-logs. So if its 110* in the shade and your doing a 34 you can bet most drivers are going to idle the whole time.
American Trucker -
No worries...you are one of the most level headed, logical people on here...I follow a lot of your posts
yep, and then you send a Qualcomm message that states "Can I please get idle credit for my 34? it was 110* outside" (like my July 34 in Hotlanta this summer)
the new idle policy is (THANKS ROB!!!) up to 45% July/Aug/Sept
I was near 40% in July and August BEFORE this went into effect, and a simple QC msg every morning, ensured I did NOT get charged
Again, a case of nobody wanting to take any responsibility for their own actions, and they would rather put forth 10x the effort in crying about how 'the man' is sticking it to them!
