So many things else but I'll just add one more
Lets say a new driver has a very common rookie mistake.
they "curb" a wheel/tire.
An obvious accident, just a new driver learning the ropes. Industry norm is for the company to charge the driver by deducting it directly from your check ( its around $500)
At 30cents a mile 500$ takes 1666 miles. to get paid for 1666 miles running HHG miles you'll have to drive 1851miles. practical will be more around 1720.
OTR is a scam.
I love this forum. I come here daily and I might get a lot of negativity from what I have posted. But nobody is earnestly going to question the truthfulness of my two posts.
Some people don't "pay their dues" in trucking not because they "don't have what it takes" but because they place a value on their time, can do math, and aren't so limited to think $7-$11 an hr is good.
Being a truck driver requires a lot more than driving but thats just all the companies are willing to pay for and not even all of that either (i guess their gps only works to track you not to show the miles from shipper to receiver). They won't even pay you to get their equipment fixed- "its part of the job".
"paying your dues" in an industry with a turnover rate at 130% is asinine.
About to get into trucking, for some fairly practical reasons.
