I was told you have to have it electronically calibrated at the dealer after you install it. Can anyone confirm?
-
Ok so I can install but take to dealer after
-
I really don't trust them they told me my turbo needed replacing come to find out it is actuator

What is the year for the truck. This thread is old and many things got changed

2011 volvo vnl d13 engine

yes you have to calibrate the actuator before and after install
-
It depends if you got a used one or a new one.
Used over could work if you didn't spin the shaft since you took it of, if you did you will probably have to calibrate it.
Make sure you check that shaft on turbo that it's not jamming on either side.
I was trying to replace just actuator but when I got mine off i tried to move the shaft left and right and it was jamming, specially when i slam it hard... -
More information from you would help. Like how many miles and what code was being thrown?
I hope you get lucky.......sometimes it is cheaper to replace the turbo/actuator together. Was the turbo tested for smooth travel of the rod? Just buying the actuator might only be a temporary fix as the real problem is carbon build up inside the turbo itself. This might buy you a few months but ultimately the turbo will need to be replaced.Last edited: Dec 25, 2019
