I thought a/c was required to work to prevent heat related illnesses that could cause an accident? Could of heard wrong though
AC not working, is there a DOT regulation about this?

Just went all through OSHA's site, the best I could find, is an employer must monitor high heat conditions. Most of it referred to boiler rooms, glass factories, tire manufacturers, etc. No where in their regs, did I see anything stating AC is required. It did state cool water should be provided, airflow can be provided, etc. So basically an employer could say roll down your window and you will be fine, or stop by a truckstop and pick up a 12volt fan.
If AC was a requirement, I guess no one would be allowed to work construction in the summertime, or an open warehouse in the summertime, I guess the US would just have to shut down all production from mid may, thru mid Sept.
It's a truck, when moving there's plenty of airflow. Look at guys doing road construction, all day long working around hot blacktop, in the boiling sun.
I drive all day in Florida, haven't ran the AC in 2 years. just roll down the windows and your good to go.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Sleep in that truck at night?

i thought i was driving to get away from the ball and chain

Listening to you guys, I have to wonder what the working class in America did before the invention of A/C, jogging pants, sandals, and 32 oz. big gulp drinks.

I cannot remember the last time I idled my truck for AC. I only idled once for cold.
I have stayed in a motel 5 times for the heat.
I do remember when the ac died, how miserable it was in the truck and that at night there was no relief either way.Wicked Wizard Thanks this. -
I cannot agree with you more. Trying to sleep when it's 100+ plus out is crazy, even harder when you try to sleep in the day. AC doesn't even work at that point. The point is you do what you gotta do until it gets better.
-
But when a local driver gets on here and says that driving the truck without the ac is no problem, then goes home in ac vehicle and sleeps in ac at home, it is a bit different.
-
True. I am local now so I don't feel the pain anymore. The point still remains though, do what you have to and try all available options to get it fixed ASAP.

Got sent down to Memphis in a rough area one trip. Hot all the way down, no AC. Got there it was 84 outside and the heat was pouring up from the truck. Not safe to open windows. Fried for hours.
