accident @ 4 year mark. who will hire?

I recently had the first of my interviews since graduating and receiving my cdl-a.

The interview went well until asked about an accident that occurred within the past 5 years. Long story short, the accident was not a minor fender bender but was non-reportable and does not show up on my mvr.

The liability is extremely questionable since all they have to go on is my explanation of the event (4 years ago) and lack of MVR detail. I offer a very good and fairly detailed account for how the accident played out and I feel that it is very difficult to place fault on me but all that matters is whats on paper. This was not a commercial vehicle accident and there was no careless driving involved. Regardless, this big ugly blemish exists. I'm currently waiting on an accident report from the state that the accident occurred in.

I'm extremely concerned that regardless of my clean record since, every interview I have is going to be complicated by one event that is officially difficult to track and investigate.

Are there any companies out there that will strictly only look at a period of 3 years instead of 5? I do not want to have to wait until August of 2012 to get a driving job, and I certainly do not want to pay for a refresher of any sort.

Will this one ACCIDENT ruin my opportunities in this industry? Or are there any decent paying companies out there that may grant amnesty beyond 3 years into the past?
