Been driving for 3 years, had an accident in my personal vehicle where I fell asleep driving and ran off the road. Former company won’t allow me back, will this prevent me from finding another job? How will this affect my cdl? Any responses are appreciated

No. 3 years is enough for something relatively that minor. As long you don't tear up people or kill anyone.

What I used to do is go back to the farm at sunrise ready to run the superliner 500 dump truck for paving work. However long it takes as a workaround when OTR companies hate me. I have a job there for life.

I don't intend to sound mean, but I think you should consider giving up driving.
I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt or hurt anyone else, but imagine how things might have turned out had you been driving a big rig.

I've always been told to pull over and rest if I felt drowsy. You went past this.
I'm sorry, but if you are unable to remain alert behind the wheel, you're creating a dangerous situation.

sorry to hear this. but falling asleep behind the wheel, is not something the companies want to hear, when mulit-million dollar insurance awards are handed out like Halloween candy.

if this is on the police report that you "fell asleep", i cannot see any company hiring you right now.

if it were say to have been a tire blow out, or an animal that you hit, maybe it might be passable.

we have to look at the time of day (or night) this happened, and why...were you going home from a party, or from work..

do you have sleep apnea (some employers may DEMAND you take a sleep apnea test, on your dime, if this is in the police report, that you fell asleep behind the wheel).

were you working all day at your house, went out and then this happened, when you hadn't even so much as taken a nap, and you pushed yourself all day long??

Where is your location; state & nearest city/town? Plenty of jobs available. We can give you leads on jobs or you can find something on Craigslist and be back on the road in a day or two.
Don't ever say you fell asleep. Ads : See stay awake pills
Even those truckers you see wearing a halo because they're so perfect, may be guzzling those energy drinks to stay awake.

I kept a 1/2 pint bottle of Ephedrine pills in the truck. They were legal at the time and any truck stop sold them. Then the rules changed; they were still legal, but had to sign for them at places like Walmart Pharmacy.

Are you sure you fell asleep, or did you dodge somebodys dog, huge difference. Never , never admit to falling asleep, did I say never.
