Hi, my boyfriend called me this morning. He was making a U-turn and hit the car. It was a white car, sitting in a white snow. He just didn't see it.
Nobody was hurt and the damage to the car is minor. BUT...
He messed up with his log book about 11 days ago. He had driven more than 14 hours, because it was the only way to be in time.

So... I'm so scared now. Is it really possible for him to go to jail for that??
He said, police would check his log book for 8 days. That's what they told him. What if they check it for a few more days, is it possible?
It's his first year in truck driving.

What can be done? Is there any way I can help him?

    Thank you!

Driven or been on duty more than 14hrs?...If he drove more than 14hrs, that's a real issue he needs to get on top of for his sake and others on the road...

I hope it works out for him...

It was in the huge parking lot, from what I could undertsand, not on the road.
If he give them records for 8 days, can they check it somewhere else? Like those scales on the truck stops.

Normally, they only check them for fatalities.

The field guys only have the right to 8 days unless you give them to them.

If he did a u-turn on a road he will be fired. No driver should keep more than 8 days of logs in the truck. Mail them home. A driver is only required to keep 8 days of logs on him at a time.

    Thanks for answering!
I'm not sure I could explain the situation good enough. I wasn't there with him.
I've just send him a link to this thread, so he could come here himself and explain it better.

Hopefully he WELL documented the scene with as many pictures as possible...Plows have been known to bury cars...
