Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. Obviously, the guy who pulled out is a moron but do you think the truck that hit him bears some responsibility? Considering it was downhill in a curve approaching a highway intersection, maybe he should have been going much slower. Always expect the unexpected.

What do you expect him to do? Slow down and put on his four ways and safety vest?

The WA14/US97 junction is hazardous to begin with. I once encountered a big truck making a u turn at a blind curve because he missed that turnoff. Thank god I was able to stop in time and no traffic came from the other direction.

Slow down would be the key words. If it's a known hazardous intersection, maybe the state could do more to get people to slow down through there--put more signs up and lower the speed limit if it isn't already.

Not much he could do, other than pray the trailer was empty.......

Clear line of sight, but the guy pulled out in front of him with only a couple of hundred feet of distance. Reaction time is well over 100 feet, plus the time for the air pressure to get to the brakes. From the force of the impact it seemed to me that he had hit the brakes before the collision.

I'm filing it under "unavoidable" for the oncoming driver.

There is no doubt who the blame falls upon, but I see no evidence that the other truck tried to stop or take any sort of action to avoid this, not saying he didn't, but the video doesn't show it if he did. Again, I place the blame on the dumb ### that pulled out.

No. He was going no more than the speed of traffic and he took evasive measures. 100% on the bozo who pulled out.

If it were me approaching the intersection you would have seen some tire smoke. I wouldn't hold the brakes locked but I'd be stabbing hard enough that there would be some skids. Wonder how he came out on his brake inspection. Definitely caused by failure to yield, but the other guy will be charged a preventable. Like that's a shock to anyone.

Modern abs... also, I wouldn't want to fully lockup my brakes coming into a intersection. Driver adjusted as far as he could while staying on the road, no point to potentially jacknife into oncoming traffic.
