I want to go to trucking school and want to know if this will affect me gettting a job or not. Between three and four years ago I was a driver w/ a landscape company and by accident parked in a no park zone while doing work within the property of an apartment community. I got out and started working, meanwhile some college kid backed into my parked truck and called the cops bc their car got damaged. Long story short the cop put down that we were both at fault since I was parked in the no park zone. My question is will I have trouble finding work after completing CDL school?

One accident of this type shouldn't hurt you very bad. Your driving record, criminal history and employment history will weight heavy on your job possibilities.

Most companies go back three years, some go back five. You should be fine.

My criminal history is clean good driving record, only one ticket ever for having a ladder hanging too far out of the back of my truck with no red flag(over 3yrs old also), and stable work history(no firings). I also have great references. the only other thing is I had one open container ticket but not having anything to do w driving. I was out fishing and had 1 beer and got a 240 fine. This happened on a shore and the driver was not drinking. What are the odds of that? Anyways I called the police station and they told me it shouldn't show up.

The only way you are going to know for sure is to call around to some company recruiters and ask them. In my opinion it doesn't look that bad however, if you are asked to list any misdemeanors or criminal offenses then you need to include all that stuff. The offenses probably won't hurt you but not listing them will! These companies have their own private investigators working for them and it may take them a month or two or three but they will find out everything and anything you ever did! What will suck is if you are driving down the road two months later and they call you to come into the terminal and fire you on the spot for not telling them. I have seen this happen quite often. So absolutely sure to include everything.

So now is the perfect opportunity to ask some recruiters about all this. This way you will be free and clear of any worries and won't have a problem divulging this info.

Good luck man and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the info, I will make sure I let them know as much as possible but not more than they need to know.
