I tip the people working in truck stop diners very well. Sometimes 100%. I've worked in a good many thankless jobs and it's always nice when someone recognizes good service.

No, don't worry about this. On your MVR, it will indeed show up. But there should be something like an "accident code," which will indicate that you were not cited, or not at fault. It will not have any weight, just answer "yes," and then explain, "Not at fault, not preventable, not cited." They'll understand it wasn't your fault. I had a horrific accident in a CMV my first year as a driver. Some woman almost killed herself driving into my truck. It shows up on my H6. I disclose to all employers. It has never, in any way, held me back from employment.

If you disclose an accident you were involved in, but not cited for, and it was not preventable, you're almost admitting your experience. It's like getting your stripes in some way. You might as well be admitting to having passed a DOT drug test. Don't worry about the not at fault accident. If you hide it, you look suspect and they'll never trust you.

Once in a while I get a service that I consider above and beyond.

I once parked her at the quality inn up in Ohio, I could not begin to remember exactly where. ANYhow.. there I am trying to eat a humble burger and fries with gravy and salad while staff lined up at my table.

I asked the staff to go away I don't need anything right now and they would be better off using the spare time to get a break or relax with a book or something, I will be a while. (I was the only person eating in that entire big room at that particular time early in the afternoon)

6 staff waitresses, two cooks and one assistant manger at my table for a hour and 10 minutes. Some of it attributed to talking and getting to know one another. Im just a driver, nothing special. But I think all around we made a effort to make a good day out of it.

They all got a 20 out of it for their trouble. I think it was about a 150 dollar lunch all together. I was happy to do it. If anything, it's a story that cannot be topped anywhere for service.

I can go to a tiny mississippi truckstop that is right on 55 midway below Memphis towards Mobile. It's right at the halfway mark. Anyway this tiny stop supported a strip bar that had many waitresses in it. And no I did not frequent this bar. But people walk over here to the eating area, put on a apron, wash hands and go take care of customers.

One time I had a steak that was not fit for even a dog. I told my then girlfriend on the phone at the table about it while considering the additions and spices I will have to do to it to get that processed inside of me. Waitress overheard my problem, replaced my meal with a better steak and a bigger spread to go with it without charge or being asked to.

I'll not forget that little truckstop in Mississippi that made a meal better without being asked to.

My experience? It was in my personal vehicle which I've been driving for 24 years which I've never had an accident. I'm confused Are you saying that somehow we are all responsible for other people driving on the same road as us?

No need for confusion. No, I am not saying that we are all responsible for other people's driving.

With that in mind, any accident you are involved in, regardless of who is at fault--it shows up on the DMV printout. With that, there are "accident codes," injury codes and fatality codes which tell the entire story. It will show up on the DMV printout. However, it cannot be used against you. The DMV printout clearly shows who was at fault.

If you omit it from your application, you look dishonest to the safety manager. It has to be disclosed on a DOT job application for the purposes of transparency. You can't hide the accident, even if you were not at fault. Now if your insurance company tries to raise your rates based off this, you can put up a fight. Sometimes they'll try to do this.

I once wrote a reply to a question and spoke of databases. Insurance companies keep extensive databases. Medical, life, auto etc etc are all entered into these databases. A friend of mine moved into an apartment a few years ago. Because he moved in from another state he decided to change auto insurance companies because he got a better rate. One of the first phone calls he got from this new insurance company was about 2 things. First there was no data from the Georgia DDS and somebody was showing up in their database with an at fault accident at that address. The point of this is simple. You CAN NOT OUTRUN these databases. When you are filling out those applications make dang sure you are totally honest. IF you tell an untruth and manage to make it to an orientation and it's discovered you might get sent home. Guess what? Most companies report orientations to DAC. Now you got 2 problems. A lie by omission is still a lie! Don't do it!
